World Of Warcraft Preorder
<div class="IPBDescription">Who has pre-ordered WoW?</div> Just wanted to see who pre-ordered World of Warcraft already, and which set did you get. Regular or collector's edition.
Plus I heard Collector's Edition gives you a free month or something? I'm still waiting to see the finalized prices of monthly fees from Blizzard after Beta ends and stuff, before committing to buying the game.

It is a fair bit of money in the longrun and you also have to buy the
game itself.
But by the looks of it, this is going to be my first p2p mmo.
We'll see.
But it does make you look kind of geeky if you pay for playing a game

I'll see how I feel after the beta ends....
I wish I could read some changlogs, with things they ARE going to add
to the game in due time...
It also seems as if I'm running out of things to do. I'm a lvl 14 dwarf, and it's all just hack and slash for now. Yes fishing is fun, and yes I do leatherworking, but that's pretty much it, aside from the occasional quest.
*edit*
What is this server localization you speak of esuna?

Basically, you're forced to play on your local servers. IE if i sign up in the UK, i'll only play on UK servers, you're not given the option to choose the server location. <a href='http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=385040&p=1&tmp=1#post385040' target='_blank'>Here</a>'s the localisation FAQ from worldorfwarcraft.com.
As it stands, most people i play with now in the open beta are in the US, when the game goes retail, i won't be able to play on US servers, i see no reason to subscribe knowing i'm gonna be forced against playing with friends.
EDIT: Also, given the news of Blizzard's decision for this, SOE have recently been advertising EQ2 stating you can choose any server in any location to play on with your friends. GG Blizzard.
there must be a way of exploiting to play on any server
iam sure someone will find a way
as for paying to play wow, that aint gonna happen, i got plenty friends who i can share accounts with
I'll stick to my HL2 mods, more gameplay that keeps coming out, and no monthly fees <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I believe that the localization is a temporary feature that will accompany the release and will end shortly thereafter. Also even if it didn't end it is quite easy to work around the localization.
The thing is, it's not a case of "picking out a server and playing on it", being in the UK, i <b>can't</b> play on a US server. Lag isn't an issue, this is an MMORPG, it's not an FPS, the ping isn't everything, hell, i even play twitch games with a cross-atlantic ping.
EDIT: Blizzard are making a big mistake and also are making idiotic comments to cover it up, such as claiming high pings and international billing problems will be detrimental to an international gaming experience. I why Blizzard finds issues in these things considering EQ, EQ2, SWG, COH, Neocron, EVE Online, Lineage 2, etc, all offer a choice of server. This is a reallllllly dumb move with little to no justification.

Ah I see what you mean, didn't realize that our European friends couldn't hop on a East Coast server and play, that does suck the lemon. As for ping, I've played a few free open beta RPGs that were based off of Korea, and the ping did matter a lot though it is on the other side of the world. At peak times, some games are unplayable where you get hit before you see the monster like two screens away, etc. But hopefully Blizzard will reconsider their decision on locking out people who don't reside in our country.
As for the other games, this is just my theory but I think it's because of Blizzard's no-loading feature that they need to split up the servers. I think that one server runs the whole map-game, instead of having multiple servers running multiple portions of the map. I know they have different servers that handle chat, looting, quests, etc, but to run the whole map without loading looked awesome, especially the griffon rides.
