CommunistWithAGun, aka CWAG, was a regular forum member who resided in Off-Topic and Discussions. He did quite a few things that annoyed the admins, getting his postcount reset numerous times. A little more recently, he did something that went too far past the rules, and got banned for it (though the admins won't tell us what he did, apparently to protect his privacy). Some people really wish he was still around, so they created sig images and avatars. Others are glad he is gone, and some feel that he deserves the same punishment that any other forum member would get, so they responded by making sig images and avatars of their own.

I really don't care whether he is around or not, and since I don't know what he did to get banned, it's hard to have an opinion on whether he deserved it. It doesn't really make a difference, the admins have made it clear that they aren't changing their mind on the matter, so the "unban cwag" avatars are more useless than the "unchain the chambers" avatars.

Very simply, if you break the rules, then you get punished. He broke the rules, he got punished. End of story.
[edit]To respond to the "whether he deserved it" issue: there have been cases of members being permbanned, then coming back after an extended length of time because the reasons for their ban weren't overly severe. All of these cases involved direct conversations with the member in question and staff, not public discussion of their punishment. If CWAG thinks he's deserving of a chance to come back and start from scratch, he's free to talk to us when he feels it prudent to do so.
