About Clan Leaders

why do they get temper tantrums
Back in the day when I would be able to goto clan-x's (dun want to name any clan in particullar) ventrilo channel (and this was before I ever did any ns competetive gameplay) I recall that many of the members (whom i do not wish to name) would go into a fit of rage during clan matches. Now i think its kind of strange that people would get so mad over NS. I mean come on its just a game right? But NOOOoo. Every time i went into there was this one guy that was always yelling at the top of his lungs into his mic, accusing his fellow teamates of doing stupid things and crap like that, when he himself, clearly, made mistakes as well. This makes me wonder how and why clan members even bother to put up with all that crap and now it really makes me wonder why a lot of clans have broken up and reformed. Maybe its because of skill? Or is it because these new members they meet get along better? I dunno. I'm grateful to say that the clan I was in had pretty decent members (as in personailty-wise and skill-wise i must say), but sometimes fights would break out too. After many arguments, which were over who was n00b or a f***ing idiot, I believe some of my fellow clan mates refused to play any longer (well i coudn't b/c my internet got screwed up) and that pretty much led to the dissemination of the entire clan at that point. Maybe its all about winning that puts pressure on people to do their best and forces leaders to yell at their fellow mates. Who knows...
Overall though, I think clanning is pretty fun when you win matches, learn/share tricks and ideas, and get to meet other skilled people in the world of NS. It's just that when people start verbal fights, instead of trying to see and learn from their mistakes as well as reason with each other, it kind of makes you want to give up on clanning altogether sometimes.

But having dumb members who don't follow orders is even more stressful.
Yeah?
What if leading a clan becomes stressful enough to cause ill health?
What do you do if a senior member and server operator is found to be using an aimbot, and kicking him would result in loss of server, whilst not kicking destroys your reputation and labels your clan as cheaters?
Don't assess the CL's role until you have walked a mile in his shoes. (Yeah well, I know that way you have his shoes and are a mile away, but that's not my point. )
(This comming from an angry CL who is indeed in the aforementioned postion.)
A team where no one ever disagrees or engage in fights of some kind isnt a healthy and creative team. What I'm saying is just that you shouldnt be afraid of confrontations, not that constant fights and people insulting each other all the time is something to be expected and accepted.

I briefly led the amazing COW clan, that was stressful. Couldn't be bothered soon enough. If i'm ever in a clan, I make sure from the start that I am the lowliest of lowlifes so that I have no responsibility whatsoever other than to shoot the enemy.
It's definately not worth getting angry over any game, ever, but it's certainly not unexpected.
