<div class="IPBDescription">oww</div> hmm i went to some place called alerto's today and had some kickass mexican food. Since I thot it was quite good, I decided to get an enchilada to-go so I could have it for dinner.
So a few hours ago i popped my enchilada in the microwave, then put on a lot of hotsauce on it. Now i dunno why but my stomach is on fire <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo--> I don't think i've ever had this problem before but if anyone has some suggestions as to how to stop this tell me plz k thx.

Somehow I think soda would only serve to make it worse. Why can't you just drink milk?

Try having a panadol or the equivalent. The proper crumbly tablest mind you, not those caplet thingies. The compound the paracetemol is contained within (the stuff that forms the bulk of the tablet) is a basic compound (the opposite of acid) so it should calm it down as well as relieve the pain.

Dont take more then the recommended dose, and if pain persists, please, see your doctor.

    My suggestion:

Have a pinch of baking soda. Just through simple chemistry: Acid+base = water + salt. Last I checked milk had lactic acid...

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->This lactic acid fermentation is also performed by lactic acid bacteria which are responsible for the sour taste of old milk and which are used in the production of dairy products such as cheese, yoghurt and kefir. Lactic acid fermentation also gives the sour taste to fermented vegetables such as traditionally cultured sauerkraut and pickles and many fermented starches such as poi. Lactic acid bacteria also operates in the mouth, and the resulting lactic acid is responsible for the tooth decay known as caries.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

So, since you're basically adding more acid, and just diluting it with the milk: I would recommend water or something alkali (...but not too alkali). Which is why I recommend baking soda.

    Other than that...perhaps you have an ulcer or...something <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> .

Ya, a teaspoon of baking soda should do you. soda pop is tricky, because it calls itself soda, bit it really is fairly acidic. Acctually milk probably wouldn't help to much, expecially if you are lactose intolerant, milk has a PH lower than 7.

Just take some damn anti-acids, you ninny. Tums, Zantac, whatever. Sheesh.

I have acid reflux *every* day, so I have no sympathy for you whatsoever.

Screw your stomach pains. If those prices are correct, set up an illegal smuggling ring with a milk-high and soda-low country. You'll corner the market and make millions!
  • BulletHeadBulletHead Join Date: 2004-07-22 Member: 30049Members
Well... actually, lactic acid is a digestive production... milk in itself is generally considered a base

    Though you are correct

Try some GOATS milk or something... or just down a bottle of damn Baking Soda... sheeshe...

hrm i was talking about the 2 liter soda bottles for $0.69. I thinks 4 liters is a gallon so its only $1.38 as opposed to $3.29.

Anyway my tummy is all better now after I drank like 2 cups of soda.

Drinking soda was stupid. Really stupid. If milk is that expensive there (Which is odd to me... Milk prices are regulated in Canada. Bread, too. Everyone has to charge the same prices for both.) then mix a teaspoon of baking soda in to a glass of water and drink it. If you've still got heartburn, do it again with two teaspoons of baking soda. If that still doesn't help, try it one or two more times with two teaspoons and then go to the pharmacy and get a bottle of Maalox (Spelling?) or something.
