    Oh dear.

Microsoft are taking the release of their major IP as an opportunity to ban lots of the modified consoles that connect to Live.

    Oh deary, deary me.

Sod Halo, I'm not sure if a life without PGR or Outrun is one I could stand.

Better that than run the risk of hacks appearing overnight.

But you've got to disable your modchip before you go online, therefore removing the possibility of morons running unsolicited code to ruin the game. The only way people could affect the online game is by cheating offline to unlock items for use online (like the TVR Speed Twelve in PGR). You could do that with an Action Replay, though.

I don't bother with live (I cannot justify an additional expense on top of my broadband) so I have software modded my xbox. I could still use live if I wanted to but I really do love playing DVDs without having to buy that stupid remote control dongle.

Wow. I'm not sure if I'm the biggest fan here, and it doesn't really matter, but what the HELL were they talking about when they said the story wasn't as good?

I haven't tried Live yet as I don't have an ethernet cable that can reach my living room and I've got a feeling they might have left it a cliffhanger so downloadable missions are irresitable, so I'm going to save the free 2 months for then.

I give Halo 2 a 10/10 for presentation... aside some from textures that pop in from time to time, and some low res small textures (the ammo clips and such were a LOT easier to read in Halo 1), the look and feel is awesome. The excellent soundtrack and bloom effect combines with what is possibly the most cinematic game experience I have ever had give it a dreamlike, fantastical feel. Normally, I wouldn't like this in a sci-fi shooter, but it just works with the theme. I also loved the massive textures in some levels, such as <span style='color:black'>the Index chamber in "Quarantine Zone" and the city "High Charity."</span>

In any case, it looks like Halo 2 may well keep me addicted for longer than its predecessor.
