yeah, dead serious, the US day by day is becoming a worse place to live.

i suggest that if your smart enough to realize it that America is going to hell in a handbasket then move to Canada, we'll welcome the intelligent ones in, and everyone who would want to stay in America is welcome to. it's not like we'd want 'em anyway.

using my mystical abiltities of intelligence and reasoning i'm going to agree with DOOManiac, lots of people are going to die now.

From what I understand you guys are saying that were going to tick off the world in our attacks on terrorism (or on the innocent nations as most of you seem to believe) and they will blow us up [or] the terrorists will finally get nukes and blow up our cities (gona say right now I dont trust Osama and his tape).

Damned if we do and Damned if we dont.

At least if Clinton could run again, we'd have the populace voting FOR someone, rather than AGAINST people. And if he could have... well, Kerry could kiss my ballot-stub goodbye.

Edit: And for future reference... you can't win a war against a concept through violence. You should have learned THAT one from the 'war on drugs'. Pfeh. Puritans.

That's the "now all we have to figure out is how we are all going to die..." part.

    Who knows???
    Terrorist attack?
    Draft?
Bush getting trigger happy with the nuclear button?
    Civil War?
Religious fundamentalists putting all non-Christians to death?
School shootings extended to College campuses?
Ran over by that **** in her god damn SUV?
Or maybe I just still haven't gotten laid and I jump off a bridge?

Either way, we can all rest easy knowing this is the last time we'll have to vote ever again. Hooray! :D

no the world is going to be **** off because of the attitude of the "commander in chief" and the US's general attitude of "do what we say or get off of our planet"

paranoia, fear and self righteousness drive bush's actions as opposed to intelligence.

The Libertarian idea of freaking off and maintaining a military presense at home seems to be the only one that will defuse the terrorists. But they may still attack... it's a real problem. I don't see a way of solving it, but I'm sure as hell that attacking Middle Eastern countries such as Iraq (which posed no threat to anyone) is NOT going to help in a "War on Terror."

No Mantrid, no. move to Vancouver, much nicer, very clean, not as cold, plus we have mountains nearby incase the ice caps melt which it looks like their going to do considering the state of global pollution.

If Kerry or anyone else had been in office, Iraq would not have been attacked and we would not have this problem right now. That alone makes Kerry >>>>>>> Bush.

if kerry wins now as opposed to bush the main reason that America wont be bent over a kitchen table and raped with a dirty bonsai tree is because... well, i can't think of anything coherent right now. something along the lines of...

"if you tell a small child not to open the cookie jar and take a cookie, the small child will expend all of its energy to trying to reach the cookie jar and snatching a cookie from it. while paradoxically if the cookie is never mentioned the child will have no desire to acquire it"

this is truth, unless the child has seen the cookie before or the cookie for some reason pops up into the mind of the child.

examining this truth we can apply it to America in the sense that the US (the adult) is proclaiming to everyone that "we have freedom, goodness, a wonderful way of life and god on our side" (the cookie), and this statement provokes everyone (the world) to ponder this, those who desire that cookie (freedom) will want to take it, however, America (the adult) has surrounded that cookie with barbed wire, missiles, tanks, etc. now this makes the people (in this case, terrorists) who do not have freedom (cookies) very upset with the adult (America), and in their frustrated attempt to get what they do not have will visualize the preventer of goodness and freedom (cookies) as the enemy and will hurt, destroy or maim in attempt to coerce them to releinquish the cookie. (freedom)

**i'm using 'freedom' as a general term to describe quality of life, not any specifics of freedom itself.

    **** Clinton was "Teh Bestest"

I'm still wondering if I will get an apology if i'm sent to iraq, to get shot at, blown up, or just psychologically screwed up from shooting and blowing up people fighting for their freedom. I'm still wondering about the guys i know who are in Baghdad RIGHT NOW, and if THEY will get an apology if they're shot, blow up, or psychologically screwed up.

    Terrorists WANT FREEDOM!?!?!?!

No no no no no, Terrorists dont want freedom. They want to be dictators! They want to control. Freedom for themselves and and for those who think only like they do. They want to force all to conform to their views and they want to be incharge.

Just look at Saddam! If he wanted his people to have freedom then why didnt he give it to them? why did he torture his people when they opposed his dictatorship or had a differenet idea baout something?

They dont want the cookie, they want to blow the damn cookie up!

Oh my bad you mean quality of life.

Ok then, Why do they chose to be in the rat hole that they are in? America doesnt force them to be like that. We dont have soldiers in their homes with guns to there heads saying you will live like dirt and watch us the big bad rich America live in luxury. They can improve themselves, its not our damn fault they are like that.

They are jealous of our power. We have power because of our freedom (I mean freedom, not the quality of life).

    What the cookie?

You do NOT know what terrorists want. They do not hate freedom, that is utter bull. They love the freedom they have to blow you up. They do not envy you. They are killing you because they HATE you. Terrorists are not 5 year olds, they do not hate you because they are jealous of what you are. They hate you because you do crap to them which they don't like. You accidentally kill their kids with a smart bomb and they become angry and blow you up. Terrorists do not attack just because they are bored. If you stop pushing them around they will stop bringing guns to school and slaughtering everyone.

saddam is not, and was not a terrorist, he was a dictator. there is a difference, learn it sometime.

and secondly i meant for "freedom" in my post to represent many things. by using the word 'freedom' i am trying to imply a great many things. first and foremest freedom in every sense of the word, but also i mean opportunity, wealth, a cool glass of iced tea, the preverbial cookie.

"something one desires that one does not have"

    a little clearer now?

Version91x I don't know if your agreeing with me or not, because half of what your saying you seem to be mocking what i've said and yet the other half seems to be the point that i am trying to make.

hmm, using a cookie and a child are a bad example, but the desire to take what they do not have for their own is still the driving force behind their convictions, at least it appears that way to me.

hmmm, this issue is skewed because of how Bush has twisted our perceptions of terrorists. because of Bush's feverent desire to see saddam out of control or better yet dead he has made people believe that Iraq and Saddam are responsible for terrorists and terrorism while instead this whole "war on terrorism" originated in afghanistan with osama bin ladin,

what i mean to say is that america is protecting its "freedom" (quality of life, etc...) for itself within its countries walls and the people who desire it are so distant from it, think of it like this.

you are dying of thirst in the middle of the desert and you come upon a television screen showing a man sitting down comfortably on a stool and sipping an iced tea with a few ice cubes and one of those little umbrellas, now you know this man is on the other side of the desert and you also know that someone (possibly his wife or friend) is preparing him a sandwhich in the background, you desperately want these things and you envy and despise this man for having them while you have nothing. however it is also known to you that water resides deep beneath the sand you are standing on, but do you dig for it? no, you go for the much easier man with the sandwhich.

    ...Yes, the terrorists are after our freedom - an intangible, self-attainable 'product'...makes sense to me! <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I think that amendment after FDR should have just stuck with allowing 4 terms (or maybe 3)...2 seems a bit short. With all the checks and balances in the system, this one seems like a rather stupid one. I mean, if the people are going to vote someone in 3 or 4 times, they might as well get the chance to...I never understood why it was made (I know the whole 'prevent a dictator-like government' thing, but that doesn't look like it would ever happen...just because FDR was voted in for 4 terms).

Well, at least the presidental choices don't really affect me aside from tuition increases and maybe taxes...but I'm in such a low bracket I get all that back anyway (just a bit mad my tuition went up $2300 from last year thanks to Bush...).

    Do some research.

NeonSpyder I just didn't understand about the whole metaphorical cookie thing, and then I had a little rant.
edit: the sandwich/desert explaination didn't help really. Terrorists would rather steal then do the work for themselves? Or is it that terrorists would rather die than see someone with more than they have?
