I've noticed there are allot of new and different icons next to peoples names since beta 5. Anyone have any information on this and how it’s being done?

There's an AMX (and for the glorious AMXX) plugin to allow your own custom icons. The only problem I have with it is I've seen a few that are worryingly close to the 'official' ones, almost as though they're trying to confuse the matter....

The only "new" official icon is the current purple gorge icon for the Guides, all other official icons are unchanged. Any icon besides the ones listed is not an official icon, and exists solely to denote someone's position on that particular server(s) you saw it on.

I've went to a few sites using the new guide icon and got them to stop using it, not much flak from the owners/admins thus far. I'm going to start doing the same for certain other icons as well.
Eh, for the publically available custom icon plugin (AMX, AMXx and Metamod version), I tried my best to make it so they couldn't assign standard icons, outside of Server op. I even tried making some custom icons with the plugin to help deter people from getting around my block for standard icons...
However, considering its open source there's not much else I was able to do. A determined server op can get around the block without too much trouble.
I've also only ran into one server that assigned standard icons since beta 5 came out...

It's just a shame some are starting to show this tendancy to keep their plugins entirely inhouse, which surely can't help the community creating them. (The auto-team balance one I've seen on a few being one of them, moves a player from team A-B to even the players if no-one does after x seconds, and warns it's going to do it after y)
Hate it when admins use dev icons or so icons for so. Use your own custom icons .
im glad to say i use a custom icon that cant be confused for a dev or anything else

I really like this plug in. Before people would use developer icons and NSGuide icons (generally) to represent people with reserved slots. Now, alot of people have created nifty custom icons and there is no more confusion. However I'm sure there would be some servers that haven't changed and continue to use official icons. A pox on them!
most of the server regs get there nations flag and special peeps get there own ones
Comments
These are standard icons. Any other icon you see is custom and is assigned by server operators.

All others require being either part of the NS team, Guide group, PT team, or the (defunct) Veteran program.
