check your options in the creative control panel...its probably set on mute, becuase the control panel loads after the windows sound, so it has to be an option in there.

    How many times have I told people not to buy crappy Audigies? :b They're the same card (essentially) as an SBLive Value.

    I have problems in ONLY Half-Life related mods/games. My sound will kinda skip and make a weird noise for only a second. And then i'll be fine for another 5 minutes then it'll happen again. From what I've heard Audigy's are bad but I live my 7.1 surround sound. If you can find an awsome sound card with 7.1 on it link me

    Duo, how many ears do you have? That's right.
    And therefore, how many speakers SHOULD you need?

    Unfortunately, the card that was designed around that (including hardware occlusion and spatial placement) was tied up in litigation by Creative until they went bankrupt, whereupon Creative bought the technology and is sitting on it.
    Anyone else know which card I'm talking about?

    That's right... the Aureal Vortex, and Vortex 2. Unfortunately, the last drivers made available for it are for Win98... so a devoted gamer will have to roll back to be able to use it to full capability.

    The truth of the matter is... Creative bought it because their main income does NOT come from sound cards. It comes from selling speakers to morons they've convinced into needing eight.

    Of those cards available now, I'd have to recommend the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz instead. Better positional audio than anything Creative puts out, and it's not just yet another relabelled SBLive, to part more fools from more money.

    I find 7.1 to be awsome. I can tell where anyone is just by staying still. Although BF1942 only works 5.1 (boo) I can still gather were most of the shots are coming from. I hate 2 speakers because I find myself even with my "Surrouns Sound Headphones" which are like still 2 speakers to me, I find myself going in a 360 to find out where exactly the enemy is.

    I was looking at the Caralian one because its 7.1 and that fits my needs. Plus its cheap ($50) compared to my Audigy ($130ish). But i'll probably wait till I get a new pc im in no rush.

    7.1 = pwn

    If I EVER buy another creative product, I hereby give my permission for someone to shoot me. ATM my craptacular Audigy crashes my computer whenever an EAX function is enabled. I had to go back to the semi-crappy onboard sound because Winamp now crashes the Audigy drivers. I've tried every type of drivers, but nooooo... it still sucks crap. Oh, and my Jukebox Zen? It crashes too! I can only use it when its perfectly stationary, or I have to go find a paperclip to reset it.

    That, and Creative's software is horrible. Its bloated bloatey bloatware with a side of bloat. All I want to do is listen to music, but no, apparently I want to have a toolbar, EAX control (to distort my music into crap), a SECOND volume control and, just in case, a program that complains about every CD I put in my computer. Just to listen to music.

    Unfortunately I have yet to find anything but Creative products in Canada. I can find shelves of every type of Audigy imaginable, but no actual sound cards in sight. Grr. Ah well, I'll just have to break down and buy one online.

    NONE! Headphones for the win . I use some good quality stereo headset and can tell where an enemy/ally is while moving.

    7.1 is nice for movies and some nice calm adventure/rpg games, but you can't beat headphones in a 3d shooter.
