Star Wars Dvd Comedy

-_-
Well, yesterday i managed to get the new DVD box set of the holy trilogy, so between then and now i've watched both ...Hope and Empire.
There's two things so far that have made me laugh like hell, and two that's bugged me a lot.
In ...Hope, the famous Cantina scene where Greedo now shoots first and Han dodges is pure comedy. When Han dodges it's probably the worst post-production editing i've ever seen. He blurs horribly and dispite his body moving, his arm doesn't which makes it look like it's broken or badly misjointed. Why have they done this?
And for the part which they added either in SE or the theatrical rerelease where Han speaks to Jabba, where he walks around the back of Jabba and stands on his tail, once again the poor as hell motion blurring and cut and paste Harrison Ford look completely ridiculous.
Remember that episode of Family Guy where Peter said "What're they gonna do, cut our budget?" and walks off in a really badly done way, yeah, both of those parts are like that. I thought IL&M (Or whoever) was supposed to be entirely groundbreaking with special effects, so why does this look so absolutely laughable?
My main annoyance however is the sound quality when it comes to dialogue. The quality switches from either raw as hell, badly produced sound to highly produced studio sound from shot to shot, again, why is there such absolutely poor production here?
The other annoyance isn't quite so bad, it's again concerning special effects. With lots of effects being added, reshot etc, the old effects look absolutely dire. Take the TaunTaun's on Hoth, bad stop motion animation is rife and just looks apalling in comparison to some of the slick CG that occupies the same movie. I've no idea what they should do with that, since obviously a good deal of the stop motion can't be redone and reshot without massive expense, and also they can't remove the fancy CG because it does look really good at times. Bleh.
I must admit though that i'm not disappointed, i still love the movies and finally being able to get them on DVD for a pretty good price was definately worth it, but why does so much of it seem so half-arsed?

They're working off decomposing originals here, not pure digital film that has just been shot like they did in Episode II. There's only so much you can change, and there's a very thin line they have to walk between making it look nice when you're not staring straight at it and making it look nice when you ARE staring straight at it. The first time I watched the movie, I didn't notice any of those Han Solo glitches you talked about; only when I went back and watched a second time and specifically looked at Han did I realize that it didn't look so hot. But again, they're doing the best with what they have; they can't exactly replace Harrison Ford with a digital model and animate that like they could Obi-Wan in Attack of the Clones. And the stop motion looked fine to me really.

Don't they have any people to check quality? Surely if they saw it so bad, they could just cut it, or, y'know, just leave it be. Sure, they've not exactly got great material to work with, but nobody's forcing them to actually change anything.
They choose "A" which was probably the wisest of the three. What are you complaining so much about? Don't you have homework to be doing or something? There are better things to spend time being concerned about.
Most fans, including me, don't like it that way as well he may be a "Good Guy", hes the scroundrel character, not the goody two-shoes Luke character. Meh...
I will buy it, just can't afford it ATM.

As i said, it's an annoyance. I'd much prefer if they retouched somethings, but left other things. Things like the x-wings or space scenes, sure, redo them if you like, doesn't matter as the original models actually look pretty decent, but for some things like the tauntaun, it looks embarassingly bad in comparison to the stormtroopers on their mounts on Tatooine which were added to A New Hope. Also, with he TaunTaun, the closeups were all shot with an actual prop as opposed to a small stop motion, this is one thing that could have definately have been replaced and not had any ill-effect.
And for some of us, Star Wars is a big part of our childhood. Sure, i'm only 21, but i still grew up with these movies and have loved them ever since i first saw them when i was just a young kid. To other people they're just movies, to me, and a lot of other people, they're fond memories and a part of our childhood and upbringing.
And as to other things, yes, i would much prefer if Han just shot first and that was it. Han isn't strictly a good guy, he's a smuggler for christssake, he operates out of sight of the imperials and also does some work for Jabba, a notorious crime lord. I'm sure shooting at someone trying to take his head first is something he'd do.

Have we learned nothing for Tyler Durden?
First he says he hates DVDs and won't release his movies on the format. Then by the time he changes his mind he's gone senile and ruins them. Lucas screwed up. Stop giving screw ups your money!
And don't forget, there are laser disc versions of Star Wars out there... and I'm sure those versions have been converted to DVD by now.
