Besides my Remington 870 express shotgun, (18" barrel, 7-round capacity, no stock modifications besides replacing the magazine spring) I own a Ruger Mk2 Pistol, (.22 calibre target pistol, 11 round magazine, 7 3/4" tapered barrel version) Glock 21 pistol, (.45 calibre for those who aren't familiar with the glock models) Ruger 10-22, (.22 calibre target rifle, one of the best and lowest-priced target rifles on the market!) Ruger Mini-14, (.223 hunting rifle very similar in mechanics to the Marine Corps' M-14 rifle) and several revolvers that I don't really ever use.
Yes, it's a lot of guns, but I can't afford to shoot them very often, especially the glock. .45 ACP isn't cheap and I don't have the equipment to reload ammunition. But firing real guns and hearing the noise and feeling the recoil is just totally fun.
For reference, I own a literal arsenal of BB-, Pellet-, and arrow-firing weapons (15-20) but i rarely ever use them besides to practice breathing when aiming. They aren't as fun, despite that I can shoot them in my back yard. Traveling out to the dead lands off in the mojave desert and shooting real guns is just major fun.

A shotgun is exactly the kind of weapon I'd put a bayonette on. In a military application, they're going to be close-combat weapons, so even if you're not out of ammo, I could see it being used.

heh I forgot to mention.
my cousin has over 44 different firearms in his house including a barret .50 cal sniper rifle(which we won at a raffle). Hes a law abiding citizen and owns all of his guns legally.
hes a really nice guy with a nice collection.
What does he do with them? hunts, and collects and shoots stuff, (no not people... sheesh) in his wide expanse of property.

(btw: you can hunt pidgeons but it is not standard practice. I don't know of anyone who would eat one of those rats with wings)
I've only used guns for shooting at bullet traps (...or, when the scope was off, firing into the woods). Unfortunately I can't afford my own rifle (though I don't think a .22 or a .308 is that expensive). Convienently enough, someone I know has a shotgun, a lever-action rifle and a bolt-action rifle (missing the magazine...however that happened).
And then my grandpa is a gun collector (note: each time he had a child he bought another gun as a present for himself...heh). He has at least 50 in his gun safe, not to mention the 30+ hidden/stored throughout his house.
I just like the finesse of bolt-action rifles. They're the most fun to shoot. For all the excitement of a fully automatic weapon (which I've never shot, but would buy one if the oppurtunity arose) I'd rather just have a nice bolt-action rifle.

U can use a handgun under 21, you just need supervision of the owner. You also cant own, buy one, and in many places buy the handgun ammunition. That u need to be 21 for as well.
Rifles and shotguns usualy have far younger age limits if any. In some states u need to be 18.

I use a double barrel personally. However I wouldn't turn down a semi. I just cannot justify the cost at the moment.
(btw: you can hunt pidgeons but it is not standard practice. I don't know of anyone who would eat one of those rats with wings)
It's too bad you need to be over 21 to fire pistols <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> .
[...plus it makes no sense because you can joined the armed forces and get issued a pistol at 18]

Oh man, one of the few southpark episodes that I truely enjoyed.

i talked to my gunny recently about this: you CAN carry a weapon while your job requires it: but if you're just walking around, or not doing something that requires you to have your weapon, you actually have to store it in the armory. so it's really not as good as legal, private ownership.

just to add. Ultimate Gecko
U can use a handgun under 21, you just need supervision of the owner.
You also cant own, buy one, and in many places buy the handgun ammunition.
That u need to be 21 for as well.
Rifles and shotguns usualy have far younger age limits if any. In some states u need to be 18.

You can use a revolver, but you can't use a semi-automatic handgun unless you're at a gun range (or something like that). It's a bit strange as you can have a revolver, but not a pistol...but whatever. Still makes no sense to me. I figure if you can go around shooting people in a war you're old enough to carry a pistol where you want...but this isn't really the thread for that.
I remember shooting some rifles back when I was 7 or 8 or something. You can't own one until 18 but you can shoot them at pretty much any age.
[plus there's no 'te' in my forum name <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ]
I've only fired a couple of shotguns, one a simple O/U 12g at a clay pidgeon range and a 410 which is like firing airsoft but with more devestating effects.
My cousin owned a revolver when I was a tiny whee sproglet so at the time I couldn't tell what it was but looking back I would guess it was a snub nosed colt of some description. He had to hand it in at the armistice -_-

It is a shame that someone who follows the law had to turn in his weapon.
I only own 1 colt revolver. It is a bit large IMO however it gets the job done.
