dont think so. this forum would be flooded with useless polls if anyone could make them. i doubt thats something anyone wants. maybe pm nem0 or some other admin/mod if you REALLY want a poll.
I mean, why not just put like a 100 - 200 post requirement or something?

People still post their Poll-like questions anyway. Not enabling polls just takes away a great feature; i dout enabling it would case anymore usless posts then there already are.
i fail to see the logic behind "X amount of posts before you can make polls". care to explain?
and if anyone would be allowed to make polls we would have polls like "should a skulk be able to kill a lone marine most of the time" YES OR NO. and then in the thread thered be posts like "DEVS PLZ LOOK AT THIS".

Sometimes more active members are the more responsible ones. Not always the case though...
But it dosent really matter, since Invision Power Board can't put a Post requirement on just Polling anyway.
It's because at every release, 800 people, regardless of post count, make polls
"Do you think that the aliens should move 1 unit/sec faster and JP needs to make farting noises?"
And people get annoyed by it all <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> If you feel you have a worthwhile poll, PM a mod or admin, and we can make it for you.
"Oh no, if we let poeple run polls, they will, Holy crap!"
Thats rediculous, anybody should be able to run a poll. ALL the reasones you guys use against it would also apply to making new threads. Should we sacrafice our ability to post on this forum because people post alot? Or because noobs start stupid threads? No.
Opening up the polls will increase the number of polls, but not the number of threads, so its irrellevent. If a guy wants to know your opinion on idea "A", if he cant run a poll, he will still start a thread. So your not reducing the congestion of BS here, only limiting our fun.

no. your reasoning fails. more members is not a bad thing. but more polls, most of them useless, would be a bad thing.
lets take ideas and suggestions forum as an example: people start all kinds of threads there, where they give an idea. now, if we allowed everyone to post a poll you would see the forum full of polls like "should lerk hp be more or less?" or "should gl make more or less damage?" and thats stupid. i'm sure you all have a great idea for a poll in your head, maybe some of you have more than one but i doubt they are all really worth it.
the current system works fine, you can still have your poll if its really necessary, just pm a mod. how does the saying go, "dont fix it if it aint broken".
I'd prefer to see people provide actual reasoning to why they want things done. If polls were enabled, you'd just get a bunch of polls about game features, and then people go around quoting the results of these.
<!--QuoteBegin-Comprox+Sep 25 2004, 05:52 PM--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Comprox @ Sep 25 2004, 05:52 PM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->It's because at every release, 800 people, regardless of post count, make polls<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> I don't think so because forums get disabled when there's a new release, and the IRC chan gets +m...
So, in other words... the only counter-point here is that people will just make polls about stuff that they already make without polls? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

May I suggest making a User Group called "Veterans", "Responsible", or something of the sort that has Polling enabled? Polling is far too usfull of a feature to restrict like this.
I know we could just PM a Moderator to put one up for us... but I'm sure thats a job which could get fairly annoying when many people per day are bugging you about it.

As WhiteZero posted, polls suck bandwidth like nobody's business. With 16,000 users, we really just can't afford to let everyone make polls whenever they want.
Why don't we have a poll? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Ok, excellent reason: Bandwidth.
