conclusion, great program for dedicated gamers, but when u like to see movies at your computer it is a big nono program
You're alone with that movie problem. PowerStrip works like a charm on my pc, in all circumstances. Movies, games, you name it. Try the shareware version first, see if it does as you expect. It's shareware for a reason. A worthy buy IMO, i use it in many games to alter brightness and/or gamma. And to set up my 3d-card settings using hotkeys before I launch a game. Or switch resolution/colour depth.
Try this for all you people that want a brighter in game view. this will work in all games, and can be reset easy as the way you do this. This works on most Nvidia cards.
Right click the desktop
Properties
Go to settings tab
Advanced button near bottom
Now in this new menu that popped up, there should be a tab for you video card. Such as, Geforce 4, Geforce 4 MX, Geforce 2, etc. you click that tab that corrisponds with your card. usually found in the top right.
This should, and this is where you will determine if it will work or not, bring out a box on the side of the menu. In this menu it should list options like Display mode, direct 3d settings, open gl settings. There should be a option on that menu, for Nview or Desktop view, somethign of that nature.
If it is there, you can change your gamma on this screen by clicking device settings on the bottom of the menu. then select color options. There it allows you to increase gamma, decrease gamma, vibrance, brightness, contrast. you get it to the setting you think is what you want in game. and save it as NS or game gamma.
When ever you wish to change back to the normal gamma, just go into this menu again, and click default. your NS save will still be there, for next time you want to play.
Hope this helps some of you out there with some of these problems. I know the geforce 4 line should all have this option, as should the 3 and 2. My older Geforce 2 MX 400 had this option, sorry to any older cards than that, but i cannot tell you if it will work.
So i dont get whats the problem i have GF 4 MX 440. Driver change does no good. So i just adjust my game gamma and brightness and little modifications from PowerStrip its all free and you can even clock your 3d card <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
