hah once again i need you

i am not quite sure if this is in your guide or not, but here goes

I decided to play NS one day after a hard day of school, i join the server connect fine start to pwn stuff, i try to type a message and the chat screen just freezes opena dn i cant move or anything, i cant even activate console, i havta press escape and close ns

but then when i re-open NS it still has the chat screen open and i cant play at all

i've tried reinstalling 2 times and no luck, any help any1?

    hmm.

    Honestly I have no clue off the bat, so here is the generic run down:
    1) Was this a full freeze? (as in nothing mooving, no input going in, sound loop, stuff like that)? Give a full explenation of the freeze

    2) Did you change ANYTHING recently? (with the computer that is)

    3) Have you tried other HL mods to see if this happens ther also?

    (*stops and ponders where the buises on his arm came from....*)

    4) Does this always hapen now? (have you done a reboot?) Did you check the taskmanager to see if NS (it will be called half life or HL) actualy was clossed?

    5) Full system specs

    6) try updating drivers (or if you just updated a driver, roll it back)

    7) can't think of much else

    and I am tired

    gona go to sleep (when I say sleep, I actualy meen watch anime)

    Anyways... It really is weird... You have to describe the error more detailed...

    - As you connect server is it just you that can not move or do anything.
    - Can you type any message to chat window...
    - Is the chat window open by default as you connected to server; or pops-up as soon as you press any key...
    - Do you run Cheating-Death at the background... If so, did you updated it... Did you tried connecting to any server that does not require CD without CD running...
    - Try creating a LAN server, and check if same error happens...
    - Did you reinstall after uninstalling or deleting the game files or you just reinstall over the old one...
    - Very unlikely but, did you run a virus scan...
    - Have you checked your config files for weird binds or commands...
    - also check the launch options of Half-life from playgames window of steam...

    Check these and try to describe it detailed...

    nope, played it one day , got off, got back on...played fine, pressed "T" to talk and the lil chat box window just froze on my screen, i could still look around with my mouse and shoot and stuff, and was gettin mowed down by a skulk at teh same time

    also i restarted my computer and it still broked

    This is really weird. The first thing I can think of is to rename (backup) your config.cfg on your nsp folder and see if that solves it. Nothing can go through a reboot without being recorded on the HD and the config.cfg is the main way to do it. Check your userconfig.cfg for any weird lines, too.

    If that does nothing, I would say you need to reinstall NS, probably because something corrupted your files.     Yah, you want to rename config.cfg and userconfig.cfg from .cfg to .bak (or anytihng honestly, .bak is just for back up). NS will then recreate the config.cfg from scratch and we see if it is a config problem.

    Now....

    Basicly what is happening is that you cna't use your keyboard once you open the chat interface....

    I assume you tried to CLOSE the chat interface (via enter) to see if it fixxed it....

    It simply sounds like the chat interface isn't closing, and the only way to close it is via enter.....

    k i'll check the confg and stuff asap, but i tried pressing enter...my keyboard is freezeing and i cant press anything except escape key :O
