IRC is almost a prerequiste for communication purposes for guides.. It's not 100% necessary, but I suspect as time goes on.. It will become more so.
Sort of like being a dev and not using IRC, there's too much information shared that the forums can't/don't contain.

Why are you dragging your IRC hate into a topic concerning applying for the NSGuides?
As for the issue, I remember other people having this similar problem. I'm trying to remember what caused it, I'll post back when I find it.
Edit: It's a firewall issue. Either disable your firewall for the time being or you can PM me the form with all your answers, and I'll make sure it gets where it belongs.

I'm talking about communication between guides.. You are not an island there will be questions that you can't answer, that you need an immediate response to.
This is where IRC rules because you can ask 50 people simultanously..
I'm not sure what IRC ever did to you <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> But it's the one method of communication I can generally get a quick reponse to.
irc is simply the best form of internet communication. you cannot argue that. and i dunno what the hell you have against it but maybe you should stop for a second before bashing it and positioning yourself as the "defender of oh so many souls who like you are too good for irc" and therefore must be treated with extra work from the nsguides (or any other clan/community/service, for that matter). either get over it, actually dload a client program, type /server irc.gamesurge.net -j #nsguides and ask your question, or pm one of the guides with the forum pm system. no need to pollute yet another thread with your pointless ranting.

Technical problems are a different issue. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> No argue here, but if a group has found a working basis for its internal communication, it's only logical that additions to this group would use the same. Tell ya what, if I get hired as a guide, I'll re-install IRC just for the purposes you've specified. I won't idle in a channel, do some moderation job, or chat away my life. >_>
Edit: Okay, I submitted my application. About the post where the page didn't work, it turned out the ISP I was using had problems with a bunch of common websites. It's all resolved now.
