Bizarre pings

I didnt see this mentioned here, but have the pings been ironed out yet? In all the servers I joined the best ping for ANYONE was 800. *Laughs* Game looks great but has that been.. well fixed?

You have to search around. You'll get loucky and find one with a decent 200.

Suprisingly enough, super-high pings that would be intolerable in some games don't seem to affect me at all while playing NS. Most of the time (I'm on cable) I was at 500-600 ping with no noticeable lag at all. I guess flay's netcode is just weirdly good that way... don't let ping decide wether you play or not, because the game will play smoothly at MUCH higher pings than you're used to.

Been okay if I find a three person server.  It'll stick around at 8-900.  Not as bad as some games with that kind of ping, yes, but when it spikes to 2000 with another person joining or "connection problems" it loses the fun.  Very good when its running, but spikes aren't cool at all.  I'm on cable btw, fairly unsaturated cable too  (normal cs pings are 50 avg).

Hmmm...I would have to agree with you there that ping is MUCH less of an issue in NS. However, in the servers I've been able to join (they're all so full, due to this mod's popularity)...I've had a ping EXCEEDING 1000, almost constantly.

I'm on a pretty fast cable connection. On other mods (DoD and CS, I get pings of <50, usually.)

By the way, this >1000 ping is on a redphive.org server, which I normally get <30 ping on!

well the first few (3-4) servers i tried it was uselsess playing on them

i filtered to dedactated server only and ping < 150 and most of the servers after that i was getting 80-100 ping (even on a 20 player server)


BTW COMMANDING IS HARD, might want to make it so that somthing or someone being attacked, flashes and if somebody wants ammo or somthing, it does an anamation.  the hardest part is finding them when they want ammo or health


on a side note, NS IS THE BEST GAME EVER!!! learners curve is high (i am still lost with the aliens) but once you learn it is great!!!!

oh yes also, i HATE the onos!!! scares the #### out of me!!

Nobody joins my server when I make it.

The only servers I've found with <200 ping are the ReconGamer.com ones.  The game is suprisingly playable with a 200 ping, unlike CS which requires <50 or you notice horrible skipping.
