Well I got Doom running, and ive been startelded quite a few times. One more notable time was when I ran into an off shoot of a hall way, turned around only to get slapped upside the head by a zombie. ACK!

scariest part for me is im in delta labs where the power is out and you gotta turn it back on there are windows showing the mars landscape and its casting shadows in the room so while im walking along i see a shadow of a imp on the wall i look towards the windows i see it run across in that very instance a vent next to me explodes blasting steam in my face that realy gave me a good jump in my seat <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I'll tell you what's scary. And annoying. Walking into an area in multiplayer knowing exactly where the camper is, unloading your chaingun for a second, then having him fire one shot from the shotgun, killing you instantly. There's balance for you.

To talk about a point more in the singleplayer, I'll tell you what. Someone might have mentioned it, but damn. I was freaking out in the Communications Access area where you're in the area with lots of bodies and a bunch of bodies laying around. And every few seconds, there's a loud boom, and the lights flicker to red. I just kind of looked around a bit, wondering what's going on. And then I see all the blood and the bodies. Expecting a fight, I go over to the door, and see a suit of armor in front of the door.

Expecting a trap, I pick up the armor, and BAM, red lights, and <b>something</b> opens the door, jumps out, then goes back in, closing the door. I just kind of sat there a second, wondering if something actually happened or the marine just had the hallucination. I quickly moved on.

I had the same thing happen to me in Communications. Freaky stuff.

Down in Delta 4 though I swear I could hear fast running footsteps off in the distance getting closer, but I never found what was making them. Yeah, and he goes down <i>that</i> easily. I was quite dissapointed at the speed with which that guy went down. Sure if he hits you you're dead, but with infinite stamina and a horde of lesser demons to frag, it was child's play to dodge his attacks, charge the soul cube and rip him to shreds.

Agreed, I've just fought him again and all I did was hand grenade the imps/two-heads while sprinting non-stop. 4 Soul Cube attacks was all it took <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo--> Still, he looks awesome, and custom maps/mods will no doubt make him the terrifying boss he rightly should be.

I find in some of the scarier parts of Doom, I just take 4 to 20 Doomadol's and the pain magically goes away.

Well I just randomly woke up at 3:00 in the morning, and thinking about Doom 3 I was unable to sleep.

And evryone complaining about the Cyber-Demon, there IS a way to change alot about the last battle. Im trying to find the files though... Primas startegy guide talks about doom/base/.def files, in which all the weapons and enemy stats are held AND can be configured. So you can make the Cyber-Demon have 40,000 health instead of 4,000. *which is insane* But you could also do things like make him vulnerable to all other weapons, or make him invulnrable to the Soul Cube, or, just make the Soul Cube do 100 damage, taking 40 hits to kill the Cyber-Demon.

If anyone takes a look and finds them, remember to back up, and dont fudge them up to much rendering Doom 3 unplayable. If you do alter thse files, you are not allowed to join multi-player games, altough you can make servers, and the altered files are server wide. Im pretty sure that making the files normal again will allow you to join multiplayer, but ill guinie pig that I geuss.

Hehe, yeah. Doom 3 <i>is</i> Event Horizon. The plot is similar, the atmosphere, the type of horror... shame the film is cult clap-trap, but much respect to Sam Neill.

I just got up to that "help me" part, and it's the scariest so far... I'm kind of disapointed, though, it's the only part that has scared me so far. Well, not really. The part where you see the split open guy on the ceiling and you get rushed by the two-headed imps is also pretty bad. The rest of the time I'm kind of like "Oh yea, another demon. Have some boomstick." Seriously, the imps don't scare me (though my reflexes made me jump a few times). The main reason for this is my computer (1.2Ghz Athlon, 512MB RAM, GeForce 4 Ti 4600) runs the thing like crap at 640x480 at medium details, and I started playing in broad daylight. Maybe the darkness will make it a little worse, but with these framerate issues there's no way I'm going to get scared by fat guys moaning and the same imp popping out over and over.
