<div class="IPBDescription">I'm really sorry.</div> Alright. My hard drive died. I cant even slave it and retrieve some of my files. that means that all the Red Faction models i did are lost. That also means that my half life 2 mod's models are gone as well.

Wow. Not only is that uncalled for, but false too. If, for example, the power goes off as you shut down, and the registry isn't fully written to disk (as happened to me), how is that user's fault? Are they stupid for not recognizing the fact that 10 seconds in the future the power would die and their registry corrupted? Since I'm fairly sure most of us don't have precognition, there's no way to predict various problems and prevent them.
Anyways funbags, that sucks crap. If the actual motor died or something you might still be able to get data off, but it'll cost a small fortune.

Well thats a loada **** make no mistake - you can't blame him for his hardrive melting it can happen. Lost mine when the transformer for our house got burnt to a crisp by lightning and it surged lol.

Dont do anything very important during electical problems, that way you can be sure not to loose anything.
And do run adaware programs and anti virus programs, and discfrag now and then to make sure your computer runs properly.

Wow.. thats a semi lie.. its not the users fault when the hdd craches cuz it has been spinning its lifetime by reaching about 6G's total.

wheter it does or not is not up to you to decide, leave the admin work to the admins, I think they would prefer it that way aswell.
Nottingham: Its the users fault because he doesnt buy another HD, and if it crashes then, its his fault, right? Even if he cant afford another one.

What about a hardware error, its ez to get a hard drive that dies on you for no other reason than the product was faulty...that definately isn't the users fault, its most likely what has happened to funbags here too.
If by the user's fault you also mean using Windows, then yes i suppose u are correct.
I don't know if u posted that rubbish just to get people to flame you, but i'm sure u realised that this would happen.
You could try some of the internet recovery guys...if its not a hardware error...meh...u could try doing an format to get the lost information back...as long as u'r hard drive didn't go mad and completely do an autoclave style wipe...

Actually, you should contact someone with a bit MS-Dos knowlage, or if you can yourself, that way you can recover ANYTHING that's been deleted or corrupted.
Thats what makes Microsoft such a wonderful OP.

how about instead of telling the guy its his fault that he lost the HD you try and help him fix his problem but you cant do that because you wouldnt have any of the files since he never sent them to you so basicly this thread has nothing to do with you so just leave
Dunno if that software will be of any use to u...a quick google reveals tonnes of software like this...
i was in the kitchen and our power just dropped, i had no way of knowing it was gonna happen. it can be frustrating, and expessive.
i also went out and got a new powerboard, a surge protected one, the one i was using was supposed to be surge protected, but clearly it wasnt :\

I just asked my computer geek friend about ur prob, he said he knew a couple of guys who deal with this, he was to contact them, ill reply here whenever i have something to aid u with.
