Love this game!
Eyyo to all of you people playing this game. I am totaly new to net playin' and beside havnig a lousy connection i have no frakin' idea how to hook up. There is "v46/1.1.1.0." but i dont know anything about Natural Selection versions. I have been playing a lots of CS on LAN parties and at home, and one day while i was browsing through a PC magazine's CD i found this game. But my current version of Half-Life vas wrong so i just saved this game on my HDD. And now i've trying to join on some of listed servers on this forum but all failed. It says something about that i cannot to that server's game until i install that game which i suppose to be the wrong version. Oh yeah, i dont have an original Half-Life CD, can that be the problem in Natural Selection? I really like the NS, since i am fan of Starcraft, Tiberian Sun and Alien vs. Predator games so this is like a dream come true: be a heavy-woundead marine still **** bulles outta there at aliens. Yup, marines, maybe they are weak in Starcraft, but still, there is nothing better then few dozens stimmed, heavy armored and armed bunch of adrenaline-filled marines dying in a blue radiated desert!!! >:) Bla... How do i connect, i can be very good teammate and medic if needed. Since i have been playing cleric in DnD for a couple of years, which is my favored class, i know much about backuping those in need, but i can also be very killer-mooded Final thing, i live in Serbia and there is no one who is playing this so if in some circumstances someone is from Serbia i would like to meet them and do a little playing and possibly organise one good NS-oriented LAN party. See ya all... on the opposite side of a cross-hair...

Second, to play NS you do need a valid copy of Halflife (Or condition Zero) - ie, you need a valid CD-Key to play any HalfLife Mods on the internet.
So, first step is to get one of those.
Then you need to install steam - www.steampowered.com
run steam (connected to the internet) and it will update itself and then run halflife and it will update that too
Lastly, download the three Natural Selection patches- v3, v3 b4, v3 b4a and install them in that order (v3, v3 b4, v3 b4a) - then you're good to go!
If you get stuck with any of it just ask on here - there's plenty of people who can help out.
Also, if you have irc (use a client like mIRC) connec to #naturalselection and #nsguides and #nslearn on irc.gamesurge.net to meet lots of other NS players.
Enjoy!
Okay, first step is to install Steam like shanks said. I think it will ask for your CD-Key, you'll have to find yours or buy another one. Once Steam is up and running, load Half-Life. Once Half-Life is complete and updated (might take a little while) you can install NS as shanks said.
Perhaps he played it at a friend's house?
Anyway, you can find your Half-life key from the registry if you have it installed already.
Off hand, I think it's in:
HKLM\Software\WON\Cd-Keys
If not, download the HL-Keygen and it can tell you your current CD key. (Note that the keys it generates dont work online. And it's wrong to use them anyway.)
TychoCelchuuu: I have Half-Life cd. But not original. So i hope that damn cd-key generator will work properly.
ANdreW1: I will do that. Again
AlmightyNu: I just do not understand your question. What meaning it has to you, but ok.... I started Natural Selection LAN game and started a server and get amazed in a moment. No matter if the game has nothing with movie Aliens, she reminds so much on Aliens vs. Predator 2, System Shock 2 and Starcraft and since i really like that games i found Natural Selection a gift from heaven >:) Yeah i still remember the day when i brought Aliens vs Predator 2 on LAN party for New Year... All of my buddies were playing Quake 3 and Homeworld and some other stuff, until the razor sharp Disc, leaving the red trail behind, cratered that marine... Ah that are the times. Btw, my english IsNoGood. Ah, Support, really demanding task. You know i am relly sick of players which ruin the whole graphics in Quake just to earn few frags more. Its kinda stupid, why then use so powerfull graphic cards when everything is rugged and mugged. So i prefer to enjoy in the nice game, even if that means that i have to be the last on the list. So **** the frags. Of course its not always like that but most of the time it is. Well, feel free to ask anythin else. Yo

Second, there is no useful readme or manual in Natural Selection folder, for that NS readme is for credits and stuff.
I had to uninstall my previous NS, which was v1, and then install v3, for else nothing changes. I need to know shortcuts for Target in Icon Properites (-game ns, -console, -noipx...), all what need to be there. Just which version of NS do one need to play NS? In order the files i have installed: NS_install_v3_b1, ns_v30_b4_patch, ns_v30_b4a_patch. Do i need something else? Btw where i can find out which version of NS i currently have? Console command, some txt files maybe?
Whoever helps me, thanks.
