Should I Spend The Cash?

<div class="IPBDescription">to get DXO a new monitor?</div> <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showuser=12894' target='_blank'>DXO</a> is my close friend, we became moderators together, clanned together, played other games together, and have been doing so ever since we became moderators...

now, he can't play NS because his monitor is shot to heck. he is unable to get a job where he lives, but *I* have a job, and am having problems trying to spend the money (i'm not going to spend the money i have set aside for my T2K stuff -see signature- until the fundraiser is over).

now, would you drop ~$120 for a friend across the country, that you've never met, that you find to be your best friend (even more than your real life best friends?)

please vote, and explain why you voted the way you did.

    If you are seriously having trouble spending money, then you obviously have no better alternate use for the $120. It probably wouldn't even matter if it was repaid or not, so consider the monitor as an expensive gift.

    Although, I do find it a little surprising you consider somebody you've never met in person before as your best friend... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    <i>edit: $75? 19"? My 17" monitor was nearly $375!</i>

    If he buys a monitor locally it'll cost him 30 or 40 bucks to ship it.
    75+40 = 115

    Big time Yes.

    Why ?

    because i know what you mean by saying: <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->a friend across the country, that you've never met, that you find to be your best friend (even more than your real life best friends?)<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Of course, if you have known him for a long time and consider him a good friend than sure. Although money can ruin friendships pretty easily so I would be careful on that note. But I'm sure a one time fee to help a buddy out is fine, if were multiple times then I would be cautious.

    I've got a spare fully-functional monitor I'd be willing to donate, but it's sadly only 15inches. Probably not even worth the shipping costs <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Well, if you fell so strongly about DXO being such a close friend, and you have the money and weren't planing on spending it, I don't see why not. (I also know how you feel about having him be your best friend even tho you never met him, people are different in real life... Most of the people I consider my friends are from my clan...)

    Anyway, I say yes, If I had a friend in need, and I could help them, I definatly would.

    Sadly I have to vote "no"

    Simply because I once did a big something for a supposed "cool internet buddy" who i had known for awhile.

    And he well, promptly screwed me over... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    but hey, thats just my personal expirience.

    -shrug-

    I'd do it. But at least half of good friends I know online and talk to daily, I've known for more than 4 years. Infact, I've known Paranoia-2MB from here somewhere between 7 and 9.

    Bah. If someone bought me everything I wanted simply because I was too young to get a job, I'd end up spoiled and depending on strangers over the internet for everything.

    I voted Yes.

    If you consider DXO a close friend, you have extra money laying around, DXO is having financial issues, and DXO isn't expecting this of you, then yes - I think you should do it.

    If any of the above assumptions are not true - you should NOT buy a monitor for him.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->now, would you drop ~$120 for a friend across the country, that you've never met, that you find to be your best friend (even more than your real life best friends?)<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    You don't find many people like that. Doesn't matter
    if you know them through the Interwebby or in real-life.
    They're still few and far between.

    Meh. I wouldn't give DXO a free monitor if his life depended on it, but that's just me. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I wouldn't purely on the basis that DXO smells and sends me abusive messages on MSN.

    (I voted yes btw)

    Buy your self a new monitor and sell /give him ur old one.

    If selling him it do it cheap as u can and just ask him to pay the money back when ever he has it spare even if it takes 10 years dont matter.

    Everyone is very generous with other peoples money, all those who voted yes should put some money in, then you could get him a whole new PC <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Of course I did actually vote yes but I don't know him. Still I'd be willing to put in ?5 as its a good cause.

    I voted yes as best friends are important and money isn't, especially if its lying around doing nothing. Gave my mate ?75 ages ago and refuse to let her pay me back, she's too important to start claiming pounds of flesh. Loaning is for losers.
