You've never been to the steampowered.com forums, have you?
Jerk.
Bingo. VAC is VAC is VAC. The whole point of it is to ban people like you, who cheat. And keep them banned, so they don't have the chance to cheat again. If you're so desperate to play, guess you should have thought of that before ruining everyone elses game.
And as for people being this stupid... look at I&S.
People will still continue to cheat and get caught, and get new cheap CD keys, not a bad racket at all.

I find that statement ironic given your past, Ness.
Seems to support the idea of giving people second chances.
HOLY @#$^ BOB!
iv been trying to tell ppl this for years.
that valve is cheating cheaters so they could get more money!
which is kinda funny... kinda like this guy, i hope its a joke post.
makes me wanna say the foul N word...
YOU NOOB!!!
It won't look the other way while you play NS and it won't care if you, well.. post poorly written forum posts here.
NS going "official" kicks so much ****..
I've found two sources that say a VAC ban lasts one year or that it varies depending on the offense and can be as long as five years. According to a third source, a first offense results in a one-day ban (with one exception that was not named).
Regardless of how long your ban is, when you are banned the date of your unbanning appears in your console ("You have been banned until 10 July 2009", e.g.). I imagine that if you didn't bother to read the message VAC sent you, you can contact Valve and ask them.
VAC "claims" can be made here, but it should be noted that "[u]nder no circumstances will [Valve] unban an account that was detected cheating. Even if someone else was using your account when the cheating took place, you are responsible for ensuring that your account is used in accordance with Valve's anti-cheating policies."
In short, you're pretty much screwed and it's pretty much your fault. Your best bet is to buy a new copy of Half-Life... and don't cheat next time.
I'm closing this topic before it gets any hotter.
