Iraq Sovereignty Transfer Today!
<div class="IPBDescription">...two days early</div> BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- The handover of sovereignty to the interim Iraqi government took place at 10:26 a.m. Baghdad time Monday, two days before the June 30 deadline previously announced by the U.S.-led coalition.
"This is a historic and happy day for us in Iraq," al-Yawar said. "It is a day that all Iraqis have been looking forward to. This is the day that we take our country back into the international community.
"We want a free and democratic Iraq, and we want a country that is a source of peace and stability for the whole world."
The interim Iraqi leaders expressed thanks to the coalition officials and troops, saying their sacrifices would not be in vain.
Zebari told reporters in Istanbul Monday morning the early transfer of sovereignty is "a sign we are ready for the job."
"We are ready to take up our responsibility even before June 30th," he said.
The handover comes as insurgents continue their attacks, with car bombings still taking many lives and more hostages being seized.

It is seen that the surprise early transfer was to catch insurgents off guard looking for an ultimate attack. Very smart, I applaud both Bremer and the Iraq sovereign government.

Smart yes , but errrm... since the insurgents also hate the interim government , aren't they going to stick to the plan and attack anyway <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> (unless they planned to assassinate Bremer that is)
Everybody, whip out the parachute pants.
And also I bet this is the only time anything has ever happened EARLY concerning a government in the history of the world...

Yeah...but the effect would be a lot greater if the leader of the new government were killed on the first day, eh?
I hope all the best for them as they keep their nation strong in the face of the accursed insurgents.
Place your bet, everyone, on how long it takes until this screws us over, just like everything we've ever done in the middle east ever.
Edit: and I didn't even see <a href='http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2004/06/28/world/saddam_iraq040628' target='_blank'>this</a>. Saddam gets handed over next Tuesday.
Wow- America got pwned.
Worst case scenario - Saddam is freed by terrorist groups, he takes over control of that entire thing, and initiates a fully fledged guerrilla war with support from neighbouring nations and supporting nations.. russia, whatever whatever
<!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif' /><!--endemo--> methinks that will not happen =] <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Except saddam has nearly no support in the muslim community. Basicly I would be really supprized if he doesn't end up dead one way or another. Its kinda sad when you think about it...
But yeah, this is worst case scenario.. as in, "China and Russia and Japan and America and Africa all team up and send their armies and special forces to take over Australia and completely wipe out every single Australian, before razing the place to the ground"
Which is less likely to happen... seeing as japan is too busy making 30GHz computers for home use
maybe just china, russia, america and africa then.... damn now im scared <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
and no, its not sad, not in my opinion. sure, loss of human life, blah blah, however - everybody dies. i think that he should die ASAP.
Gl to Iraq it could be nice to have non-raceit arab country.
