well, i've been goin back and forth with the recruiter by phone, and tomorrow i'm bein picked up and shown "what the marine corps has in store for me".

can't help but be so excited. naive, disillusioned, maybe - even with all the marines i've talked to, how could i possibly know already what lies ahead? but i'm excited nonetheless.

i'll make sure and tell you guys how it went and what i learned tomorrow night.

Seriously, if you have no problem with dieing join them if you like them.

Oh yeah, and it is true that you can't join the armed forces if you have flat feet. I had a friend who couldn't join because of it.

Soldier's jobs also include, peace keeping, helping those in need, giving your life to protect another, and the list goes on, Marines arn't just about fighting, yes fighting comes with being a soldier, but that single belief isn't what makes a marine.

I support the USA's armed forces, and I have a great deal of respect for them, but I doubt any of them joined the marines just to kill people. Being a marine is about being physcally ready and mentally ready also, war isn't a game we play at the PC, we don't respawn, or have the ability to F4. I just didn't think your comment sounded very mature coming from someone who is going to defend my country.

You can bad mouth Bush and the US goverment all you want, but its not the Soldier's choice to fight or not, they do what they are told, they can't simply say no, So I find it greatly disrespectful when someone says they are fighting an unjust war.

Gadzuko: I dunno if its true or not, I think if the time came where we needed anyone we could get, they would take you if you had flat feet, But I believe if your the last male in your family who can carry on the name, you are exempt. there are alot of myths regarding that stuff =p

So please, the next time WWII veterans are marching in a Remembrance parade, everyone go out and tell them how stupid they were. It's 10-20 times funnier if you happen to be from Poland or France.....

Never was a more truer word spoken then that by John Stuart Mill: War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
