    ok the title says

    On the Zuiderzee

    That old fishing sea,

    The Faeiries stole,

    The boy of Marken
  • ElectricSheepElectricSheep Join Date: 2003-04-21 Member: 15716Members
    Other numbers in source say:

The old name of the site of the boy's disappearance is the name of the place you must go.

    <a href='http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IJsselmeer' target='_blank'>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IJsselmeer</a>

The Zeiderzee was closed by the damn as(whatver it is found in the words, military code) forming the Ijsselmeer which is the name of the next site and im lost from there but there is more hexadecimal to translate.

"Chasing Sheep is Best Left to Shepherds is derived from a movement in King Arthur and has been turned into one such fake chacone -though it falls into 5 distinct sections, each with a different tempo. Though highly Purcellian in feel it is based on a harmonic sequence very close to rock ‘n’ roll."

i will not post the spoiler for the pass/user... but it's *REALLY* not explained by that exerpt... just thought it was nice how it was related to "King Arthur" (as with the first)...

the hotel is lame, no source or nothing to work from...

Yeah, I know, I hate the hotel. I keep looking for a link to somewhere else other than that stupid dark room, which leads to the stupid treeface, which I think is a dead end.

Dammit, I wanna find the Hypercium Performantium thingy!

    Edit: Oh wait, have you gotten that far? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Considering that this puzzle/riddle is way more complex than just what you can access via thisisnotporn.com and game FAQ's has a >20 page topic that is pretty much comunally determined to solving it, I would guess that helping eachother out probably won't hurt in this instance.
  • OmegamanOmegaman Join Date: 2004-01-11 Member: 25239Members
Yeah, yeah. But dont give away the whole thing all at once, because once you know how to get to the end, you can get to the end, but if you didnt figure it out yourself, you won't "get it."

Hate to say this, but that's the most obvious part of that page besides the picture itself. There's much more to that page than you can see by looking. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

The stuff that starts off "hebban olla..." is Dutch, and it appears to be an excerpt from some really old paper that is apparently important.

Problem: I don't know Dutch, and I can't find any pages that show what this junk means in English. Please help me.

PS: Does the radio code sound file mean anything, or is it a red herring?

PPS: I found out why I can't find a translation. It's Old Dutch.

    PPPS: Aha!<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Have all birds started with their nests

Yes, the radio does mean something. I think.

I think it translates to something using the Radio Alphabet.
  • BurncycleBurncycle Join Date: 2002-11-24 Member: 9759Members, NS1 Playtester
    Eh...

The radio on the first page (index) are a bunch of numbers. Not sure what they mean, but I think it's code because some parts are repeated.

    3182 79126 79126 39205 3

I seperated it into the parts that I think are seperate... could be wrong though.

As for the other radio (the Phonetic Alphabet one) she says
Alpha Hotel Sierra Papa November Whiskey Romeo Sierra Foxtrot Romeo
Which basically turns out to be
    AHSPNWRSFR

Whatever that means I have no idea.

Perhaps both of these are clues for future use? Some believe the numbers to be some sort of phone number

Yeah, I knew that, Burncycle has it there, what I wasn't sure of is if that string of letters is useful at all.

Anyway, I know I'm on the right track here. Following the instructions hidden in the source, I've tried everything that might be an old name for Marken according to the Wikipedia entries about the Zuilderzee, but nothing works. Am I just putting it in wrong, as happened with the first code?
  • OmegamanOmegaman Join Date: 2004-01-11 Member: 25239Members
Bistro, you are so. Close. Try another name for the Zuilderzee.

Yes, yes, I just found that out on the gamefaqs page where they're discussing this. Apparently they really wanted the <i>new</i> name. (sort of)

PS: That sound is FREAKING ME OUT. I'm closing the window until I nail this one down.

And I am stuck once again.

I got the "CuriosityKilledTheCat" password straight out of the gamefaqs thread. I have <i>no idea</i> where they got it from.

The "Master and Betrayer" password is apparently the one even they are stuck at. After doing a tiny amount of research on St. John, I toyed with various arrangements of names of religious figures, including Jesus and Judas. I don't really know much about that sort of stuff, so if it's along those lines, I'm unlikely to make any headway. After thinking about some other things, especially the effects of the drug in question, I thought maybe it was a Dune reference, and plugged in various permutations of mind and fear, going for some kind of blend between the Bene Gesserit litany against fear, and that other one the Mentats say. This also failed miserably.

    i actually figured this out.

    here it is

    Alexander Cut me,
    an oracle predicted me,
    a future king tied me,
say my name to clear your path.

sounds like alexander the great to me..

    read... <a href='http://www.e-classics.com/ALEXANDER.htm' target='_blank'>http://www.e-classics.com/ALEXANDER.htm</a>

this was a little bit too creepy. must be a decendant of alexander the great.... i give this man/woman respect on that page.
