Free webhosting or free email? I dont understand why people would want to use it, as the quality is generaly poor. This brings me to the real question; Why would someone ever provide these free services to everyone on the internet. There doesnt seem to be any money to be made, and servers and bandwith arnt free...

So why does this whole system exist, I dont get it.

Well, you know how on yahoo, you can create an e-mail account, never give out your e-mail to anyone, and within a few days you're receiving spam mail?

    yeah

Because generally the free hosting companies get paid to put adds on the hosties websites. So that's how the larger companies pay for the the bandwidth/ comps/etc. And me? Well since Im not really going to pay 6$ a month for hosting like 50kb worth of images, so I just use free services.

But most of the newer ones claim to never have ads, and not give out any of your info; is this just a lie?

Funnier story, I use my yahoo address to register for stuff that I think I'm gonna get spam from, and it filters it all out for me.

I made my yahoo address years ago to play chess online when I had free time to use the internet at the library. Ironically, it's got the best email filters I've ever used and additionally is handy, especially if you jump around ISPs or need to access your email remotely (as opposed to using outlook infest and deleting all your mail off the server).

I use Hotmail and just disable all the ads (long story). It's free. Who cares about anything else? It's not like I need 8 gigs of storage.
