Also, I'm so happy that topics to do with gamespy have gone from 'GAMESPY TITLE FIGHTS!' to gamespy looking at a game.
IT freaking OWNS.
Kthxbai.

just do a google search.
i played the demo, it seemed a bit too point+clicky
better than some, but it could be a bit better
Is the first Ground Control worth buying? I liked the demo but never played the full game.

The original Ground control is one of my top ten favourite games of all time. Buy it now (only around £5 and includes the expansion pack)
raz0r - ... wth? You have to think about what your doing instead of just going "RAWR" and rushing. All games are "point and clicky"...
i was playing it on 'easy' though
i'm sure the full game requires more skill/tactics.
i still prefer Total Annihilation though.

What kills me is that I saw the original, alone, for $3 bucks about a year ago and didn't buy it

If I kill him, then I take his place, right?
Played the demo, and it runs at around 25-30 fps on my comp. D: Anyway, I enjoyed it. Far superor to Besieged or Besieger or whatever.
I can't say anything else because of the NDA, but it is SERIOUSLY unbalanced in SP and MP.
Seriously, I see in both games a case of user-interface-dumbification. In the first Ground Control, the camera view was truly cinematic; minimal HUD, and an awesome, expansive landscape. Comapre that with GC2 which looks like C&C Generals on steroids (with resulting testicular shrinkage). Deus Ex was also probably my all-time favorite retail game FPS (notice, NS is a mod ), but in Deus Ex 2, by introducing that crap HUD and dumbing down the game, it became worthless IMHO. So even though GC1 and Deus Ex 1 are graphically inferior, I think they're better games.
You can still do that. GC2 has all the same camera stuff as the first one, but with better graphics. Plus it's got some urban environments now, you can send infantry into buildings and have them fire out. It's great. The HUD is bigger and it's got a form of resources now that you use to gain more units instead of just having what you got at the beginning of the mission, but it's still a wonderful game.
