little help?
I'm trying to get some screenshots of some avi files I have, but whenever I try, all I ever get is a black screen (because ye olde print screen can't grab the overlay, apparently). Anybody know any programs I can use to grab shots with? Or even just some other tips tht don't involve using a camera to do so.

BSPlayer (http://www.bsplayer.com) can take screencaps of video. Alternatively, you can turn hardware acceleration off in the Troubleshooting tab of the Advanced menu in Display.

Thanks, that works pretty well aside from when it decides to randomly lock up my system.

Aside from that, do you know anything I can use to get frame sequences? If not, it's no big deal.

Disable hardware acceleration when you're watching the video and you can printscreen it.
Somewhere in options, depending on your media player
Under performance, just set it to "none" for your hardware acceleration.
I know this works most when you run mplayer2 which is same as like media player 6's interface. Same should work for 8 or 9 or whatever.
