then the people with the .dll differs problem would be resolved and it would attract more people...

No ones really sure, as you just never know whats around the corner for NS. There are several things we do know.

One is that the dev team is constantly innovating and improving the game. They might have it completed by next year, or they might decide to try something new and unexpected and still be in beta for ages.

Two is that once 3.0 beta is considered complete - it is going to be released by
Valve on steam. That means that .dll problems will be gone, and therefore once NS updates steam will deliver it to you automatically.

So stick around, the game is constantly developing, the community is growing, and Charlie "Flayra" Cleveland is already looking closely at NS2 <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

aye. No one really knows when it'll be done - when the Dev team think the game is well balanced and has minimal bug issues will probably be when it gets the official v3 release, but until then, just keep playing the beta's and enjoying them!

thats the thing, i can't play the betas or enjoy them because the dll differs, so i just wanted to know..


and why, unlike all the other third party games, does ns not automatically install itself

you need the beta 1 installer and the most recent version...

thats all, install them to steam and you are ready to go...

You can delete any inconsistent file if you're sure you have the right version, and the server you join will DL a correct one for you.
