Keep in mind that on the original Half-Life, every single picture on the box was photoshopped. Especially the big shot on the back of the box. I wouldn't put it below valve to do the same. Its considered "promotional work" and not just forgery...

I was under the impression that valve just kinda showed thier videos and pointed out all the features they had put a fair bit of work into. All the claims of greatness were made by fans reacting to the videos, much the way Nexus is. As far as I have seen valve has yet to fail to live up to any actual claims they have made, all they did is show off features that have indeed been included. In all fairness I kindof doubt that is possible for a game to live up to titles that many people have been labeling this game. But I am fairly confident that this will be an extreamly fun game, with an active mod comunity, that is very much worth buying.

Quick! Medhed's waking up!!! hit him with another dose of fanboyism!!! ~gets out the needle~
Guys... get off the bandwagon and leave poor med alone. He's just pointing out that he 's worried that HL2 won't be able to live up to it's hype. Valve didn't have to do anything to promote the game to 'ultra god fanboy worship' status, though by putting a crowbar with it's shadow helping it form a 2 in certain magazines as it's initial announcement after a long period of silence is like saying "we're so good you already know what this is without us telling you". Ok so they were right but it severely started up the hype machine amongst the fans =P
edit: and I don't think it's medhed that needs to 'calm down'.
I apologize for my earlier comments. Anyway, I think that HL2 will live up to most people's expectations, as the average layman that buys the game is more likely to be worried about how the game plays, rather than how crystal clear the graphics are.
Sorry if my comments offended any. I hope Half Life 2 is a blockbuster, and I hope my fears of it being less than what Valve claims end up wrong. I'll be the first to admit it, unless some of you out there want to be able to say "Hah! I told you so!".
