a PUG, is an arranged match, with peoples who don't know each other, but plays it like a clan match.

just incase some non-usa guys here? what else channels on what networks?
It stands for pick-up game. Take a set of 12 people of your choice (should probably include you), nominate 2 masochistic/blamehungry people to be captain and select the teams and get going. Use all the standard match settings, like mp_tournamentmode, friendlyfire, yada yada.
The result is a sort of mock competitive match. And depending on who you play with, it can be fun <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->
and #ns.search for looking for clan matches
#nsp-finder will be up soon which is based around bot relay to spread the request over far more channels and a wider group of people
will be creating a branch of gamesnet aswell when it's up and running
(kindly all sponsored by www.jarHedz.com !!! )
Basically it's the next step up for people who are tired of public servers, but who don't want to join a clan or play regularly. It's like a scrim because tournamentmode is on, but you aren't playing by league rules, and nobody is really playing for a clan.
Pug stands for Pick-Up Game, since you're just "picking up" random people you know to play a 6 V 6 game. The Steam Friends list helps a bit for organizing pugs. So do those IRC channels. But I can't seem to log onto those. :[ I'm so tech-stupid.
One is usually 6v6, and the other is usually 10v10.
lots to learn and know in NS, don't feel bad or afraid to ask, and if you know, don't be mean/arrogant about answering <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> (although, 90% of the time, answers are always given quickly and in a friendly manner, in my experience)
FFS what is the community coming to when they ask stupid questions like that??
