Intimidated? No. Not the point. It's intended for urban use. When it's simply patrolling, you want people to look at it and like it. It's also a little more difficult to shoot at something that doesn't look frightening.

And actually, I'd just want to have one of those for personal use. If they even ended up making it, the price would probably run well into the tens, if not hundreds of millions, if not outright billions.. but it'd be pretty damn cool, honestly.
Imagine those brought stateside for personal bodyguard use, if nothing else.

They won't become real for a VERY long time. They would have to deal with too many ethical issues that even very advanced AI probably wouldn't be able to calulate. The physical parts are all pretty much possible, but there is no mechanical brain that comes even close to being powerful enough to do even the simplist of field police jobs. What would the thing do if someone tryed to steal its gun? who gets to write the code that makes it decide?
