i dont know much about viruses except i know i have the virus that sends out emails to people with the title: important and it has a zip attachment (my mate received it off me)

can anyone tell me what it is and how i get rid of it?

Thats a IRC based virus... likely installs a backdoor of somesort (Obviously from the file name)

When in doubt, <a href='http://www.google.ca/search?q=bkdr_ircflood.x&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search&meta=' target='_blank'>Google It!</a>

And from <a href='http://es.trendmicro-europe.com/enterprise/security_info/ve_detail.php?VName=BKDR_IRCFLOOD.X' target='_blank'>Trend Micro</a> it gives removal instructions, after scanning with housecall find the detected process then endtask/find and delete.
