<div class="IPBDescription">I call it "Knowledge Tray"</div> I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I find myself visiting Google and Dictionary.com at least like 20 times a day. So to speed up my searches a little bit, I coded up this little guy that sits in your system tray.
<a href='http://them.clanwho.com/downloads/KnowledgeTray.zip' target='_blank'>Knowledge Tray Download</a>
What it does is sit in your tray, and when you double click the icon, it brings up a small window with an edit box, a button for google, and a button for dictionary.com. When you click one of the search button, it auto-clears the edit box, minimizes itself back to the tray, and opens the appropriate web page's findings.
I'm still trying to figure out how to open a new window for each search instead of commandeering an open browser window. But it's still speedy nonetheless.
Have fun, suggestions should be directed to me, complaints should be directed to your nearest brick wall.

I do it because I care, Themy boy. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I have a feature request if you don't mind. ;)
Make it so you can put in a keyword and it automatically goes to that page coorelating with a link on the <a href='http://www.php.net/quickref.php' target='_blank'>PHP Quick Reference</a> manual. For example, if I put in "mysql_query" and click the PHP (or whatever) button, it'll go <a href='http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.mysql-query.php' target='_blank'>here</a>. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out php.net's naming scheme since you figured out Google's and Dictionary.com's :P
Good work, Them! Rock on!

All done, same link. Try it out.
And thanks for the icon DarkATi, but when the program is running, you can't tell WTH that is supposed to be, so I'm gonna stick with the big green K.
I rather like my green K. Is there something particularly horrendous about it ?

oh yeah, Kazaa already uses a K doesn't it.
Dammit, k, guess I'll switch it for something, but not that brain and arrows one.
I want something warmer/friendlier.
Brains are warm. And Pretty friendly. Dunno what kinda brains you hang out with...
I'm going to focus on getting it to open in new windows.
1) select the word
2) right click
3) choose apropriate action
however i wouldn't mind having it 'listen for my keys' when firefox is open, then do a spellcheck of each word, if it is not correct, popup a baloon saying "change x to y?", and clicking on the baloon would change the word.
Even being a task button it still takes the same amount of steps, perhaps a key binding is in need here?
P.S. Good work, I love small software. Its what makes the world go round.

One slight problem I have is getting the search results to open in a new window, rather than the one they opened in last time...
