Anybody Run A Spectator Friendly Server ?

I was just curious if any admins out there run a server that allows people to spectate without getting hassled.

Try as I might, I can usually only spectate on servers where there aren't any admins around, which usually results in a poor game to watch.

    I have no problems with ready room idlers or spectators. Unfortunately the server has been a bit dead as of late. (GTW St.Louis)

    I really don't understand why most admins are so cranky about this issue. I can't think of another HL mod where this is common practice. Turn up your player limit if it is that troublesome. Frankly, I enjoy it when regs idle on the servers.     I'll tell you why I don't like spectators. Because they take up slots for people who want to play. Cranking up the player slots is not an option for many people since they may have a cap on thier bandwidth.

    I would LOVE to have spectators on my server, but I'd also to specify that a slot is for speccing and speccing only. Maybe you could cose something like this WHO, a specified number of slots are reserved for speccing only.

    You could try connecting to some HLTV servers.

    I personally have it disabled on our server, its an extra slot which makes odd teams and could be used by someone who actually wants to play the game.

    Well I doubt you'd want to watch a Combat only server, but you're always welcome to spectate ours if you'd like.     We would run HLTV but.. monthly bandwidth allowance is a stone wall for that, not to mention I've never had success with HLTV in general. :\

    I'd love to watch Classic NS matches, but I run into the same problems of random kickings and general "play or get out" situations. Understandable, of course..
