weee, its sorta fun to sit there refreshing the page and watching the votes climb
atm it is swining back and forth (first SMB3 then HL, now back to SMB3)
Whilst I do REALY like SMB3, it realy just can't go up against HL in my mind.
I admit that I just flat out like FPS games more, so I am already biased.
oh well, the games are just ocmpleatly different, there is no way to compre them (save I like Half-Life better)
And thats why I tihnk the tital fight is just silly <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Whatever game wins, I'll be able to accept it (although DX still owns them both). I went with HL, but only because it lay behind on the time of my vote.
i voted for half life, sc may be a love of my life, and deus ex may have have my favorite storyline, some other game may have the prettiest graphics(which i could care nothing about) but i have spent so much time with half life, its like, a loyal friend, an ugly friend, old friend, a friend who goes mute if you minimize him. but a good friend
he better win or else ill be so <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I had to go with the plumber. Frankly, I'm amazed he's in the lead, but think about *what* Super Mario Brothers 3 *is*... it's very possibly the perfect console game. 10 years later it still looks just as good as it did when it released. It's got fantastic gameplay, tons of options, a huge world to explore (and a million ways to go through it!), the first (to my knowledge) side-scrolling level that went right-to-left...
And besides, have you *seen* that video of the guy beating SMB3 in 11 minutes? That's just sick. (:
As for first ever right to left scroller.... I am rather sure it aint. Check out DecapAttack and/or Kid Chamelion for Sega Genesis (I think either one or possibly both had R to L side scrollers <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

I doubt that it is actualy giving you unlimited votes.
I tested this with another one when the action slowed down. I voted a bunch of times and the # never changed. Its changing atm b/c every one is still voting.

What matters it not which one was more "revolutionary" or what they did with the technology of the time, but which is the better game, which is why Half-Life should, and will win.
I'm sorry, SMB3 is THE game that pulled me into being a gamer. Half-Life, meh, it's expandable, that's the only reason I still play it. I still play SMB3 because it is just so fun and it makes me feel like a kid again.

whereas I voted for smb3 against doom, I had to go with HL here. To me HL involves all its mods and a game that can capture my attention for at least 5 years has got to be good.

Anyway, I voted for what should cealrly be the undisbutable winner, SMB3, but naturally this is gamespy so it isn't winning.
However, genre-wise SMB 3 is eclipsed by Super Mario World, and if that was in SMB 3's place then I really don't know which way I'd sway.
Half-Life! How could you even think of voting for Mario? That game sucked compared to Metal Slug even!
I just noticed that too.
