That said, my cat would probably have the tarte sauce ready before the first bomb even fell.
I've only had one evil kitty. Well 2... one we found in a tree int eh woods behind my house, it was nice half the other time the other time itd bite your arse off if you came too close. The other one was a kitten that had to go on rittalin. Im not kidding. Your sleeping all of a sudden you feel this breath in your face. you wake up it rears up on its back legs with tis paws outstretched then it charges.... I cant remember much after that >.<
My problem is animals hate me, especially cats & dogs. Maybe they can sense evil? I dunno. But every cat and dog I've met besides my own have absolutely hated me, and even my own dogs merely tolerated me.
But I still want a cat or dog that doesn't shed and doesn't poop. If science could genetically engineer the removal of these two traits life would be swell. :P

Cats in general are waaaaay too manipulative. If a cat wants something she'll come over and purrrrrr and rub against you and all this, then you figure awwwww, maybe she wants food. When the cat doesn't need anything, away she goes. Dogs are just better for company in my opinion.. Oh and that part about the dogs licking themselves.. I heard someplace that a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human's..

 Dog saliva contains an antiseptic
dirtygabbsnevada either let your cats outside as soon as their ready (1-2 months I belive, look it up google) or don't let them out at all. Old cats don't learn new tricks, like to how to avoid car wheels.
yup, your pets are only as good as their upbringing. If you don't want them to become neurotic, lost or pavement pancake then the best thing you can do after buying them is follow the simple step of letting them loose when you get back in the safety of your main room... AND LEAVE THEM ALONE XD Seriously, new animals take time to adjust and you hugging them, clapping them or confusing them doesn't help. Keep them in the house until they grow a little and you can lavish them with attention and love, then when you know/feel they're ready for the outdoors let them out in a safe and enclosed area under a watchful eye. As time progresses you can let them wander more and more freely on their own, just remember to put butter on their paws for a while (helps them find their way home).
That's just a rough guide, I'm sure there's stuff on how to bring up pets and stuff that'd be better but that's how our family does it and our pets are all very happy, affectionate creatures ^^

Gema hits the nail on the head.
Personaly? I love em all
I have worked with both Dogs and Cats for a while now (worked as a Vet's assistant for a while, as well as working at a boarding place).
I have always had a Dog and Cat in my house.
I personaly don't believe in letting cats out by them selfs (cars, depopulation of the local bird population(remember, cats are not natural prediters in most areas), and wild animals that will maul your cat).
Cats and dogs are just different, and then they are all different on an individual basis.
I have met dogs that are the grouchiest, most solitary animals ever. And then there are my GF's cat. Lets just say that she is the most permisive feline I have ever met (she used to dress up the cat and put on shows with her ).
If I had to pick wich one I would want? Well atm it would be a cat b/c I don't have room for a big dog (and I don't like small dog personalities as much)
But I love both my Dog (lucy, the husky mix) and my cat (mickey good old domestic short hair), and I miss them.....

My pet of choice is a rat. How can you resist this pile of surprisingly intelligent cuteness:
Why have a dog or cat or rat when you can have your own gorge!?!?!?!?!?
I have a cat, and she has her moments of being a pain in the **** and being uber-cute. Cats are like humans, tempermental and changing emotions in a day.

I love both of my dogs though, they're happy and fun and cool and awesome and super.

Besides that though, rats make perfect small pets.

Dogs are usually happy all day animals.
