Today I noticed something strange. Whenever I right-click on a shortcut (.lnk , not .url; .url works fine) and select PROPERTIES the sometime comes this dreaded box up "Explorer.exe has caused an acces violation in kernel32.dll blablabla". It doesn't always crash, but 2 out of 3 times

Win98SE (all updates)
AVG check OK (all updates)
Ad-Aware Check (all updates)
Newest drivers for eveything.

Can anyone help me?

After a while, Win9x will just start to tear itself apart. You'll get crashes for seemingly no reason, and all sorts of annoying bugs. My advice to you is to reformat if it really bugs you, and get XP or 2K if possible. If you have games that don't work on NT or something like that you can always have both of operating systems on different partitions.

Yes, that's german. But if there is someone who can see something out out this pile of numbers, I guess he won't be irritated by some words in another language, cause the structure of the error is alwas the same

Your registry appears to be damaged. The features shown in the right click options drop down menu link to registry entries. That's why the more options in a right click menu, the longer it takes to display - there are more registry entries.

That would be my guess. I have no idea how to fix it, sorry.

Some programs "integrate" themselves into the shell, and when you unninstall them they may mess something up. I had a similar problem unninstalling norton (what a pig) on windows me.

Had to reformat, with 98/me systems its best to format them once and awhile to keep them fast.
