I feel bad for the hamster too... but sadly I'm not sure it's something to call the ASPCA over, considering people buy LIVE rodents to feed to reptiles... those hamsters and mice aren't even intended to survive =/
I really think the guy didn't mean it in the sense of who gives a shiat, let it rot there. I think he wanted to express that it is too much work already to do all what coil said for just an animal, but in a bad way.
Anyways, to me, I think it is a great idea!!!

Why not have an extension to the case? Like add an actual hamster cage that has a tube running through the computer case.
Besides that, I wonder how you would keep the case cool like coil said. Also, mind you, people have been treated worse than that hamster in the past.

Whereas frozen, you buy a dozen and they'll last you 12 weeks in the freezer, however the snake usually won't eat the dead mouse if you leave him in there, snakes are not scavengers. I had to jiggle the mouse around the cage and hope he didn't attack my fingers. Anyways...the hamster survived the night and appears happy. Woke my roommate and I up while he was munching on some sunflower seeds. It's all good though, glad to see he's not scared of his new home. He also has been making it up and down that pipe just fine. When I first put him in there, he couldn't make it up the pipe. So I took the pipe off, and notched little stairs in the back with a dremel. The computer was also running all the time last night and you can't even feel the heat in the cage. Feels like room temp to me, even the floor. If you can't see, I've installed a 92mm fan on the back of the cage, next to the water bottle, that blows in. There are so many windows in the case that the heat escapes quickly. He hasn't tried chewing on any of the metal parts either. And to correct forlorn

And yes, the cage shouldn't overheat, one's computer is not equivilent to a microwave lol
this little **** poops so much I'll be cleaning his cage up at least once a week, the pine (should) soak up his urine, it's not like when he pees so much comes out it floods the case, we're talking about a 3in hamster here with a bladder the size of a marble at most

One semi-serious suggestion though; don't let anyone who's an Animal Right's activist/person with a Minsc mentality near the cage, or you're likely to get a firm verbal beat-down/barrage of butt-kicking justice.

Now to add my 2c : I'm more or less in the middle between the "cool case mod" crowd and the "animal rights" crowd.
My "animal rights activist" mindset will say that a computer case is obviously no place for a hamster to live (even though it <i>is</i> "just a hamster"), mainly because of the fact that there's too many elements that are not conducive to a "normal" hamster life (ie: exposed chewable glue, heat, noise, etc).
The "cool case mod" of me will make the suggestion of simply moving the tubes around and have a "normal" hamster dwelling on top of the case.
See, everybody's happy! You've still got a sweet case mod, the hamster can frolick about in your computer's innards, can pee and poo and corrode metal to his heart's content, can sleep wherever he wants, and you can still show off the case mod.
The waiting of the pics to fully finish depressed me to a state of utter disbelief. The actual joke did not even cause my brain to register the electric signals, which in turn sends nerves to stimulate my lips into a smile-like motion.
A hamster in a PC......hmmmmm. About as funny as the auto-cue jokes on Youve been framed.
