    Since you have a C:\My Documents I assume you're on Win9x.

    Reboot, and when you see "Starting Windows 98/ME/whatever..." very very quickly press SHIFT+F5. this will drop you into a dos prompt which looks like

    <!--c1--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->C:\><!--c2--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->

    and type this:

    <!--c1--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->CD\MYDOCU~1
    del setup9x.exe
    (press y to confirm)<!--c2--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->
    and etc w/ the rest of those files. Doing this from the DOS prompt ensures the virii hasn't been loaded yet and you an kill it.

    Then run a virus scann with <a href='http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp' target='_blank'>Housecall</a>, a free online virus scanner that kicks the crap out of Norton and McAfee.

    Yes. Currently, noron calls a number of commonly used programming libraries as viruses. They are not viuses. For example, norton:

    Thinks asgs.exe is a virus. I've had to scan-ignore the alleg director to keep it from deleting this rather important file.

    Thinks housecall is a virus. Whenever I run housecall, norton IDs the files it leaves on my computer as viruses and deletes them.

    Odd.

    I would say norton is going though a fairly insane period right now and not all it's virus definitions are to be trusted. Housecall is 100% accurate, so use that.

    well, i'm usin avg 7.0 not norton and it says i have a trojan, but housecall says my computer is clean. should i trust housecall then?

    Housecall is your be all end all virus solution. Its free, always updated, and you don't have to download much more than 1 meg.

    this is a neat little scan prog that covers most of the recent worst troj/vir/worms.
