Actually its 2 problems but I think they are related.
Problems
Whenever I use half life voice communications longer than 10 seconds the game crashes back to windows.
Whenever I go fade and blink/swipe in and out of fire in rapid succession sometimes while metabolizing and after doing this for a while my it boots me out of the game back to console with a Bad command parse error.
My system specs are as follows....
Windows XP Prof. (fully updated)
Pentium 4 2 Ghz.
512 mb. DDR RAM
Gigabyte GA-81G motherboard (using onboard sound adapter Realtek AC'97)
Adaptec 29160N SCSI adapter with Seagate X15 18 gb main hard drive
1 more SCSI drive and 2 IDE drives
Geforce 4 Ti 4200 (using manufacturers AOpen 52.16 drivers)
Road Runner cable modem connection through a 100mbit connection to a Linksys Gateway Router
Natural Selection Network update rate set at 7000
Natural Selection 3.0 beta 3
Common Applications running in background......
mIRC
AOL Instant Messenger

The solution, oddly enough, was updating the firmware on my linksys router.

I know normally this is not a prob you would expect a router to cause, but there's a big long post on the steam forums about it.
Anyway, worked for me, and is probably worth a try for you.
