Problem With Steam Update(offline Mode)

<div class="IPBDescription">what a surprise</div> i write this here because i can't get in to www.steampowered.com (surprise again)
ok, ns crashed, so i "ended the program". i had to restart steam. now the problems began.
i couldn't get "online" with steam, so it started in the offline mode. I could see the status of my favourite servers (but i couldn't search for servers), so I tried to join. I couldn't, because of some problem with Steam ID. ok, now I tried not just to "exit" steam, but to "exit and logout". NOW when I start steam, it says it can't connect to the steam network, but it can't run the offline mode, since I'm not logged on. and I can't log on if steam isn't "online". <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> (or should it be <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> )

well that's my problem.

    have you two verified your email yet?
    if you havent, go into setting, and there is now a button that says 'verify email'

    I have the same problem. The email verification is impossible if steam doesn't start.     wait, juggler, u started steam in OFFLINE mode, then tried playin on servers... hmm. I wonder y that did not work, maybe its cause u were in OFFLINE mode.

    ok first of all: i didnt know steam was down, since i didnt get in to www.steampowered.com , but now i was there:

    Since this morning's update was released, the Steam network has been overloaded, causing many Steam users to be unable to login.

    Until the Steam content servers are able to catch up with demand, some users will continue to experience slowness or unresponsiveness from the Steam client. We've been making some changes to the content servers today to accelerate this recovery, and we expect conditions to improve quite a bit by tomorrow morning.

    Juggler the point is if you can't even get to their website, they are probably totally down. And that of course is yesterdays news saying it should be fine by this morning, but they were wrong once again. Btw steampowered is up currently but server is to busy to hit the forums so dont try. They shoulda shut down their forums during the update like ns does. Hopefully when I get home I can login. At least I got to play a little last night.
