Careful guys.... The line between Abandonware and warez is very very very very very very blurry. I don't want to have to lock this post.

There's a hyphen in it now.

I don't think the line between abandonware and warez is that blurry. If you can't obtain it from the developer, publisher, distributor, or retailer, I'd call it abandonware.

I have to say that the IDSAs actions in Abandonware are - to say the least - pointless.

The most games offered on these sites will never, ever be officially published again; the expected profit that could be made on them therefore equals the second part of my alias.

Making them unobtainable will therefore only drive more people into the Warez scene, without of creating any kind of advantage to level it out for the industry.

Yes, like the music industry, the games industry doesn't understand what the people want. They consider their own customers their enemies, and act surprised when the sales drop.

I think one difference between abadonware and warez is respect for the developer. Abandonware isn't out to harm people, take for exmaple lucas-arts games, lucas arts specified that they didn't want their games on abandonwaer sites as they release packs of all their old games; as a result they aren't on abandonware sites.

The hyphenless link is working again? Wow. I thought the site had been shut down the last time tried it. Oh well, I stand corrected.
