Says on weds theres gonna be a steam update:
Steam Release This Wednesday

There will be an update to Steam this Wednesday beginning at approxamately 6:00am PST. Steam will be unavailable for the duration of the update, which is expected to last three hours.
This update will include the changes previously mentioned:
Offline Play
Account validation (via e-mail)
A new Half-Life 2 hardware survey
Support for purchasing games through Steam
The Steampowered.com website will be avilable during the downtime window, and will be updated as status changes.

not all LAN parties can provide the bandwith needed by Steam, bright man...

Don't know how that happened.. must have registered just in the middle of a database crash or something ?!
But I wonder how badly loaded the Steam update servers wil be though. Thankfully, they have MUCH more update servers now. So there's a lesser chance of that same problem happening again.
But still, it can happen :/

Did you read a thing I said?
After the 3 hour downtime, there may be several hours after that upon which the network is gonna be bogged down updating every steam client.
come on people this is just a game, it shouldn't affect your life that much.
I'm just curious to see how well all the clients will be updated quickly or not.
Forlorn, just because it is an important update, does not mean it is a big update. Seeing as there are no changes to the games themselves (the big players when it comes to bandwidth), I would be very suprised if there was even the slightest performance drop across the network.
