Contrary to what you guys think, NS does have to be packed and shipped. They just have different names.

After the code is finished, NS has to be packed into a neat, user-friendly installer, tell me which one of you guys would like to download a mod that comes in a .zip file?

Second, they have to ship it to their download mirrors, that is, upload the whole deal over to the mirrors so that its ready for public download.

Yes, I agree that advertisment will help the game.

But release the game along with the pr blitz.  The pr would be so much more effective if a dl link was included with all the sceen shots, trailers, etc.

I see a game being advertised somewhere and I say "oh, ok, that looks cool I guess" and will often times totally forget about it.

But if that same ad was followed by: Download Free: Here
    I'd be all over it.

The point of PR is to get people hyped, not a download link. If you include the download the day you start PR, who cares about all the work in PR, let's just PLAY! ... <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

I agree with both views to an extent tbh..

Yes, PR will help spread the word etc, valuable publicity etc, but at the end of the day it's not my Mod so it's up to them to run it how they like I reckon..

On the other hand, I do agree that word-of-mouth IS the best publicity. If a mag or games site tells me a game is class, I'll consider getting it, however if every geeky friend I have ever had assures me that something is utterly fabulous, I'll almost certainly get it...

...Isnt the point of pr to get people to play?

We will be doing it our own way. Someday, you can make a mod and do it it your way. I've explained how the PR works enough.
