I don't see on what grounds this should be locked. MadTV made an assumption, you can either agree or disagree with him. If you don't think the thread should stay on the frontpage, <i>don't post</i>. The moderators are no babysitters, don't expect us to intervene at the first hint of friction.
On the topic of this thread, MadTV, what do you prefer? A lot of noise around nothing, or fewer posts, but each with significance? I know what I'd opt for.

Its even harder to sound intelligent when all you do is nitpick someone's spelling and ignore the point they were trying to make. Stop being a grammar Nazi.
As for a relevant post, I dont think the forums are dying, It might be a little slow right now, But you cant expect modellers to release something new every day. Its just not gonna happen. Not even *I* was that fast. Mwuahaha. Give it a while and everything should be back to normal.

I don't think the forums are dying, I just see a lot of busy people. You get the big rush of models around the holidays and now the holidays are over people are back to work/school/university. Give it till Easter, we'll see a glut of releases, and then on to June and the holidays.
Besides, with every new release we get more people in here, and that means ultimately more modellers to churn out stuff. Sure, it sometimes looks repetitive, but thats because things just weren't done first time. A lot of cool concepts got half made then died, and so when the new people come in they either make a new thread on the same lines or resurrect the old one.
Forum activity is cyclical. Its pretty quiet now, with the only major pack release being the AvP one which is no more than a collation of packs which have been sitting around for as long as a year or more. Give it a few weeks and it'll be holiday time with more releases.
On another note, the silence could be due to the churning out of very high quality models from a select number of modellers. That just intimidates new people coming in. I mean if the first model you dl'ed was one of Brig's guns, then how the hell do you pluck up the courage to release what looks like a large carved potato?
