Help A Gamer In Need.

<div class="IPBDescription">Looking for a server searcher.</div>Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a game server searcher, ala Gamespy, but for LANs and not the internet? If so, where can I find them or how do I go about finding one?

The reason I ask is because the network I access the internet from doesn't let me play games due to a firewall ( :( ) so the only games I can play are on a LAN, but I have no way of seeing what servers are available.

At every LAN I've been to i have never had troubles using the ingame browser to find LAN games...

I may not have understood you properly but this is what i got:

1) Can't play games because of firewall

2) Can only play on lan

Depending on how many computers are linked up and where they are located, can't you just ask whoever else is on the other PC's and ask them?

Sorry I should have made myself clearer. I live on a university campus, so pretty much everyone else on the network is a complete stranger to me. Each bedroom is fitted with a network socket to allow you to connect your computer to the internet via the LAN.

I want a server searcher not just for Halflife but whatever games happen to be playing, eg Quake, UnrealT, Halflife, whatever. It'd just be a lot easier than having to go into each game, search for a server and leave, then move onto the next game to see if anyones playing that. So far I've only been able to play Counterstrike.

Anyway, maybe one of these programs doesn't even exist, but I was just wondering.

Thanks Sirius, that's exactly what I was looking for. Ironically the only server I can see is still Counterstrike, but at least I can see if any other games are being played now <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
