    might like to add some obvious brackets around the formula too. I was sitting there wonder why the hell I had a result of 48801 or something until I remembered to do the gamma x 128 bit first :P

    My plea finally got heard, well done XP-Cagey. Alot of information covered, and I foresee a great new rush to use the newbie mapping forums.

    XP-Cagey, I couldn't get the PSP gamma correction method to work correctly. Although I got a method to work correctly for GIMP.

    Right Click Pic > Image > Colours > Levels >

    Input Levels : 255 (NS Gamma) 128
    Then click "Auto" and then "OK" to gamma correct.

    I've fixed the forum link.

    Quick note: for those of you making long resource posts for others to use, I added a tag to IPB when I made the new FAQ that allows you to jump to any spot in a post with a mouse click.

    To make a link target in your post, use the [anchor="<target_name>"] tag and close the tag after your text.

    To jump to your target, use the url tag like [url="#<target_name>"] (make sure to add the '#' to the beginning of the url).

    You need to close both tags, like this:

    <!--c1--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->[anchor="my_target"]My target[/anchor]
    ...
    ...
    ...
    ...
    Jump to [url="#my_target"]my target[/url]<!--c2--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->

    I used the new anchor tag for both the links at the top and the "return to top" link after each question.

    Erm, kinda off-topic, but can you use HTML in normal posts?

    Xp-Cagey, I don't know if you can do this or if it is within your power. We still get posts that shouldn't be on the main mapping forums, or are just stupid.
    I got an idea, when someone clicks the "New Topic" button could it be possible to have a pop-up box that says "Please read the Mapping Forums FAQ before posting", and when clicked OK goes to the New Topic Creation area? So no one has an excuse for stupid posts, or already answered posts.

    HTML Test Here for BF:

    <a href="http://www.natural-selection.org">If HTML works this is a link to the NS Home Page</a>

    If you could, I wouldn't have to add a new IPB Code tag <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    In IPB v1.3, you can turn on HTML editing for an individual forum and then restrict editing on a per-group basis, but it's much better security to just stick with IPB and add some additional security-safe functionality when necessary.

    I'm probably not going to implement this, but if something is clearly answered in the FAQ, you can always <i>politely</i> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> tell the user which question in the FAQ they should refer to.

    That would mean me saying as <i>politely</i> as possible "read the stickied threads" about 5 - 8 times a day. I do that anyway ... and still I see the most ridiculous posts.
