Wasn't 3.0 supposed to have support for alien vs alien and marine vs marine??? i just remembered about this after playing it for a week.

"Supposed to" means Flayra thought about it, maybe for the future.

I think it wasn't supposed to be in 3.0. But <b><u>MAYBE</u></b> it will one day be possible. At least that's what I remember reading in the FAQ

You were most likely just hearing rumors. Marine vs Marine and Alien vs Alien was thought about, but I don't recall Flayra saying that it was to be released with 3.0. Somtimes when someone says something like that, a lot of people pick up on it and spread it around.

It's been somewhat planned. But think about coding it. Seeing as most of us (me included) have little or no experience with modding HL, it may be a little hard to understand how hard it is.

The first difficulties would be if the devs decided to code it so that marine structures are always team one and alien structures are always team two. To include identical-species face-offs, they would have to re-code a whole lot of code just to make sure that every building and player model could be switched between teams (for example, say we have property teampossesion. Right now, an armory may have the property teampossesion=1. This would need to be changed for the armory and every other structure in the game).

Also imagine the nightmares that would be spawining in. You would likely have bugs all over where marines would spawn in enemy IPs and aliens at enemy hives, especially if an ally hive was there, but was destroyed and replaced by an enemy hive.

Issues like that would make it extremely difficult to implement. Just wait until NS2, where if they really wanted to put it in they could start from the ground up with it in mind.

No it wasn't, if it was, it should of been in the changelogs.

Rumors indeed. The idea has been tossed around, but no implimentation just yet.

I heard about it, but I knew it wasnt gonna be with 3.0. Tis a good idea, would be pretty neat to have 2 rival alien teams, maybe in a future update, or in the new NS they're making.

he did the first one... he did one he didn't tell us about, and now he and his team are little tired... therefore, have take out the "there will" and changed it to "there might"


he said there would, and combat is the first step... it's just a matter of time.

The rumors of it being released with 3.0? I don't think so, I believe he was 'aiming for' one or something to that effect.
