<div class="IPBDescription">Because of steam...</div> Well as you can see, because of steam, I can NEVER play half-life or its mods again and I love playing FPS online so heres the question.
What FPS should I get (MUST HAVE ONLINE CAPABILITY)? I was thinking Unreal Tournament 2004 if they make it.

EDIT: Beat me to it ^^. While I'm here I'd suggest getting the Desert Combat mod for BF1942. It's my second favourite mod.
*thinks about getting BF1942 instead*
Why? If steam won't work for me, then clearly I'm gonna be wasting my money on UT2004 (cause it ain't gonna work) so maybe Battlefield 1942 <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Its not like they changed the game.. okay, they did, but they made it better in doing so...
For the most part.
no CoD has a great mod community and its growing every day.

If you can't run UT2004, you're not going to be able to run BF1942.
And if you don't like Steam that much now, I advise you to cancel your pre-order on HL2.
Or you could just get used to Steam <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

p.s. Oh, and why not quake 3;)
BF1942 rocks. Its a truely great game that everybody should try. Yes it did have a rough start the first year it came out but so did HL's multiplayer (though I doubt many of you were around to remember that).
Its also the #2 multiplayer game out there (HL being #1 of course) in terms of number of people playing and servers. So you won't have any trouble connecting. Some people say the netcode is horrible, but it works great in my experience. Hell I've played on 64 player servers w/o much lag at times.
And when BF1942 came out it did require a bit of a system to run, but now that its a year and a half old almost it shouldn't be a problem (cause if you still can't run it you need to upgrade anyway for new games coming out).
So yeah, give BF a try. Its awesome.
Oh and its got a really great mod called Eve of Destruction (google for a link). Very fun Vietnam-themed mod. You may also wish to try Desert Combat as its the "Counter-Strike of Battlefield" so to speak, you may like it. I do not however, as just like many other realism games/mods they put realism before fun...
Also give RTCW: Enemy Territory a try if you haven't. Its 100% FREE, so its not like it'll cost you anything.
