<div class="IPBDescription">Is dead.</div> I came home from class tomorrow, and like I always do, checked the progress on my bittorrent downloads. My current batch of anime was coming along quite nicely, episodes of Chrono Crusade and One piece had completed while I was at school. My 240 GB AnimeServer was humming along, distributing fansubs to all in my dorm, life was good. Then I tried to access AnimeDrive #2, "GlowyDrive H:" Suddenly, my 120GB bundle of glowing USB joy wasnt responding, and what do you know, explorer crashed. I tried it again and again, to no avail. Things not good. I restarted the actual drive, when, to my horror, I heard it start to spin up, then click, then attempt to spin up again, and click. The clicking of a death rattle. I searched and searched in vain for help, when finally, I found this on Western Digital's site:
Problem:
A FireWire, USB, or Combo drive makes a repeating clicking noise.
Causes:
The FireWire or USB data cable is faulty.
The drive is defective.
Resolution:
Remove the data cable from the drive. Turn the drive on. If the drive is still clicking, you will need to replace the drive. Information about in warranty replacement is available in Answer ID 8. If the drive does not click with the data cable removed, and spins up normally, the cable may be faulty. Replace your FireWire or USB cable.
It clicks with no cable inserted.
Then it hit me.
My baby, filled to the 120GB brim with anime goodness, was dead.
After only 5 weeks.
It was too young to die!
And even If I am to get it replaced, Im not sure I want to trust an imitation of my baby... And even If I do get more space, Bittorrent is now blocked by our campus firewall, and it took me several hours of mugging the Information Systems department to acquire limited bittorrent acces... Maximum of 30 connections, which is barely enough for downloading individual eps, let alone batch torrents...\
Help me! My baby...

yes. the title was f*ing scary.
it IS posible (often) to get data off of a faulty drive....
or at least I think it is, talk to a hardware sotre/shop and ask.
Pirating anime (especially-that-which-is-available-in-the-US) is still illegal. No warez discussion on the NS boards.
