<div class="IPBDescription">Vid card or somthing else?</div> Gateway Select Series:
Windows 98 Seconed Addition
EV700 Monitor
Nividia TNT2 Model 64 Pro (updated drivers)
699mhz processor AMDAthlon
448 mb of ram
27.9 GB Drive / 18.2 free
When I play NS my monitor is washed out and too bright, this woulden't be a problem but nothing I do outside of ns affects how it looks (Vid card changes ect. ect.)
I also can't lower the gamma bar in the options tab of NS below half-way, when i try to change it in the console it dosen't do anything.
I have even changed my desktop brightness settings while in game and had bo effect.
All other HL mods and other games look fine, before I join a server and after i leave it looks fine.
Changing my actuall monitor settings dosen't do much and iv'e even tried changing each color individually
I have always had this problem with NS accross many versions and it survived the cross to steam execpt before steam it was either pitch-black or white.
Please Help me!!!

2) TURN DOWN YOUR MONITER.
there is a tool in your NS dir (it isn't in NSP only NS) called gamatweak. run it and love it.
If you are getting OTHER oddities at the same time like:
Green text
Hive icons in top left are compleatly balck...
then you have other problems and need to tell us <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Well I run the gamma tweak and it looks fine but once I join a server it gets washed out.
I installed powerstrip (display tweaking software) before i read this post and NS looks great, what do you mean by borking?
Iv'e had this problem for a looooong time, I don't think its overbright thats the problem but I don't have much comp know-how.
My problem is the same as this guys: <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=18&t=61287&st=0#entry903971' target='_blank'>Gamma Poblem</a>
the current build of NS will disable any extrenal software gfx tweakers atm (this is NOT intentional it is in the bug DB)
So wait a sec, are you running NS in windowed mode and its your desktop that gets washed out? (thats the other guys problem)
if thats the case then I appologize but you are screwed ;(
Here is the Deal (I will C&P this into the other post also)
Overbright:
No one has ever REALY explaine this but this is what I understand of it.
The way NS is rendered and such would actualy make the game stupidly dark if it wasn't for the overbright effect.
It can't be disable b/c there is no option to disable it (part of the code that we can't do squat about). It is not a 'you shouldn't disable it' it is rather a 'you CAN'T disable it'.
If you want a more indepth explenation of what overbrite does you have to talk to some one who realy knows:
Flayrah
Max
MonsE
and probably some other people, but not me. (note I am no one, I juat bum around in tech help, note that I am in the same group as the rest of you <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
